True greatness is not a matter of leadership, authority, ability, or high personal achievement. It is an attitude of the heart that desires God’s purposes and seeks to benefit others.

Philippians 2:3–4 NKJV

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

We must be so committed to God that we pursue His plans and purposes on earth without desiring glory, position or material rewards. Accomplishing God’s purposes, leading others into a personal relationship with Christ and pleasing Him are the greatest rewards for those who are truly great in God’s eyes.

Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all.
