17 Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”
34 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
The Tabernacle was in the midst of the camp (Numbers 2)
On the East side the tribes of Judah, Issachar and Zebulon
On the West side the tribes of Ephraim, Mannasseh and Benjamin
On the North side the tribes of Dan, Asher and Naphtali
On the South side the tribes of Rueben, Simeon and Gad
16 Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?” 17 So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to Him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “ ‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ 19 ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ” 20 The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. 23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
How I’ve Done It:
27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 28 If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith? 29 “And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. 30 For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. 31 But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
Most people try to figure out how to get all of their natural needs and plans met and sorted & then decide how they can fit God into that scenario (this is what the nations of the world does) - I believe that God is calling every one of us to do whatever He wants and then figure out the rest of the “practical needs”
My greatest aspiration is to be faithful to do whatever God tells me to do.
Our family decision is that we will go & do whatever God tells us to do & then we will figure out the rest with God’s help.
This only sounds ridiculous and reckless if you don’t believe that God cares about your natural needs and wellbeing & that you have to do it on your own.
No, God won’t to do it FOR you, but He will do it WITH you.
