Why church?

Okay guys, I got a very important lesson today, followed by a lot of questions, and we are going to be starting something big and new.

So lets start with the first question, where are we?

Church, duh

What is the first thing you guys do when yall come down here?

Talk, talk, talk

stand up, sit down

play around

stand at the steps not wanting to come down

Exactly so...

At this time, We are going to play the quiet game. I need everyone to be quiet and present for this lesson. It is very important. I need y’all to listen with your ears and your eyes, not your mouths unless you are asked, okay?

Now, we start in prayer, cause thats what we do here in church right? Who would like to pray today? Does anyone have any requests?

What is church?

A gathering place to worship Jesus and learn about him

Why church?

To learn about Jesus and be with other Christians

Do you think church is important?

why or why not?

Do you like church?

why or why not?

Lastly, do you think God wants us to go to church?

why or why not?

These are some pretty important questions, arent they? We go to church all the time but yet sometimes we dont pay attention, we act like we dont want to be here, we are focused on other things. I love you guys, and want to enjoy church with you, so lets enjoy church together and listen so we can learn new things.

Who here has any guesses on how church started?

Did you know that in the Bible, after Jesus went up to heaven, the disciples were the ones who formed the first church? Why do you think they did that?

To worship God and spread the gospel and teach people.

Yes! Because you know what, when Jesus left this earth he told them to go out and teach the gospel, make disciples, and baptise people in the name of Jesus.

So when they made the church, so many people accepted Jesus. Like 5000 and more! So then churches were made! But guess where they would meet?

in homes and worship at the temple.

They could meet anywhere!! But they would worship at the temple.

So how many churches do you think there are today?

about 3.1 million is the US alone!

Church is here for us to learn, to grow, and to spread the word about Jesus. Like we have been learning., right! So lets be happy to be here! Happy to learn things, because if God wants you to like church, he is here with us. Its where we can get reconnected with him after a long week!!
