1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
Romans 12:17-21 read from 21-17
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
No ulterior motives!
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Genesis 3:1-11
1 Now the serpent was more subtil (sneaky or crafty) than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Question what exactly did God say?
Are you sure that is what he meant?Satan knows what God said but he questions; Why? to see if you know what god has said!
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
This is the problem with second hand knowledge if you don’t know the word of God Satan will twist it, adding to it, and taking away from it, Changing the word of god from pure truth to half truth which is a lie!
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: Lie of satan! Contradicts Gods word!
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
(1/2 truth!) Satan says God is holding out on you
because he knows that the day you eat of that tree you will be on God’s level You will be Gods! knowing good and evil. all you lack is knowledge
Second look!
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took( stealing from God) of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Transgression!
would satisfy Hunger- food-
Inviting to the eyes! Looks good! causing a desire for sin in which she was about to enter into!
7 And the eyes of them both were opened,
their eyes were opened but it did not bring blessing but fear, Shame, and separation from god!
and they knew that they were naked; saw the good and evil
and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
Tried to hide their sin (the cover up)
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid,(fear) because I was naked; and I hid myself. (shame)
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
Then starts the blame game!
Matt. 3: 16 -17
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Matt 4: 1-9
1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
a 100% man filled with the 100% spirit!
the resurrection and the life entered into the wilderness the earth!
Wilderness- a waste land nothing to support life dry and thirsty land Desert, rocky and desolate,Their he is all alone Loneliness
Luke say he was tempted forty days! not just one day! In the wilderness
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
But when hunger Set in this is when tempter came!
3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
Satan tries to cast doubt on who Jesus is! By attacking the flesh which was weak and hungry.
But remember God the father had just spoke from heaven “this is my son in whom I am well pleased!”
When the tempter comes remember who you are in Christ Jesus!
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
God has already established who jesus is and who you are in him!
Satan will try this tactic with you as well casting doubt on whether your a son or daughter of God!
Bro Denton said last night to tell the devil I’m redeemed!
He attacks you at your weakest and most vulnerable moments.
5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
(Deut.6:16)
16 Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
Massah = wilderness where God gave Israel water thru moses! Ex.17
17 Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.
18 And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers,
8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Matt. 16:24-26
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
