Romans 6:14 CSB
For sin will not rule over you, because you are not under the law but under grace.
Romans 7:1 CSB
Since I am speaking to those who know the law, brothers and sisters, don’t you know that the law rules over someone as long as he lives?
NO BACON!!!!!!
Romans 7:2 CSB
For example, a married woman is legally bound to her husband while he lives. But if her husband dies, she is released from the law regarding the husband.
Romans 7:3 CSB
So then, if she is married to another man while her husband is living, she will be called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law. Then, if she is married to another man, she is not an adulteress.
Revelation 19:7–9 CSB
Let us be glad, rejoice, and give him glory, because the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his bride has prepared herself. She was given fine linen to wear, bright and pure. For the fine linen represents the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, “Write: Blessed are those invited to the marriage feast of the Lamb!” He also said to me, “These words of God are true.”
We are the bride of Christ.
Yet we see another reason for Christ’s death on the cross.
Christ released us from the law in HIS death.
Christ didn’t release us from the law to stay single.
We see that clearly in verses 7-9.
Romans 7:4 CSB
Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you also were put to death in relation to the law through the body of Christ so that you may belong to another. You belong to him who was raised from the dead in order that we may bear fruit for God.
2 Corinthians 5:17 CSB
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!
The old has passed away, What is the OLD?
What is the NEW?
WHY? “that we may bear fruit for GOD”.
Romans 7:5 CSB
For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions aroused through the law were working in us to bear fruit for death.
Now we produce fruit for GOD and not Death!
This is another reason way the cross is so important.
This is another reason way the cup could not pass from JESUS.
Romans 7:6 CSB
But now we have been released from the law, since we have died to what held us, so that we may serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the old letter of the law.
John 3:3 CSB
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Released to SERVE
Romans 7:7 CSB
What should we say then? Is the law sin? Absolutely not! But, I would not have known sin if it were not for the law. For example, I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, Do not covet.
The law is a teacher for us.
The Law is valuable it points out our sin to us.
The Law is a X-RAY machine.
X-RAY machine don’t fix the problem just points it out.
Romans 7:8 CSB
And sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind. For apart from the law sin is dead.
We like to rebel against rules.
Romans 7:9 CSB
Once I was alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life again
Romans 7:10 CSB
and I died. The commandment that was meant for life resulted in death for me.
Romans 7:11 CSB
For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me.
Satan= I’m going to tempt you with what you now know is wrong and see what happen.
Romans 7:12 CSB
So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good.
The law isn’t bad the sin it point out is the problem.
Have you ever been going 55 mph and then see a 45 mph sign. The sign isn’t bad it just show us that we aren’t right with the law.
So the question is are you under law or under the grace of Christ?
