Explanation
Explanation
1. There is a God and we’ve ruined our relationship with him.
How’s that for good news to start the year?
But if you want to make the best of your college years you have to know some simple truths.
2. We live in a world that wants to distract us from that.
It takes attention to “behold” in a world of distractions.
A million things are vying for your attention. (+ examples from campus)
The best thing Satan can do is distract you from your need for a Savior and have you medicate that pain with the things of this world.
Almost 50% of TikTok users (from survey last year) said videos over 1 minute were “stressful”. 1/3 watched videos online at double speed. I finally deleted TikTok because I got sick of Subway Surfer at the bottom.
Whether more immediate (like social media) or longer-term we try and fill a void with distractions.
Don’t lose sight of what matters most.
3. Knowing who Jesus is also means knowing who you aren’t.
John confessed he was not the Messiah.
You are not the solution to your problems, certainly not your sin problem.
On a campus where you’re being told to make a legend of yourself, are you willing to recognize you need a Savior?
Praise God that the lamb takes away the sin of the world.
Exhortation
Exhortation
There are so many insignificant things that seem so important right now.
But, if there is a God we’ll stand before one day, it puts all of it in perspective.
So, bottom line… Use your college years to make your relationship with God your top priority.
Everything you do now will orient the direction of your heart for years to come.
There will never be a better time than “today” to focus on what matters most.
