In life there are things which are hard to understand because of their uniqueness, complexity

Sin has consequences.

Hosea 13 makes it very clear that sin has consequences. It may not be immediate but sin always produces negative consequences.

The nation will get a “new king” of God’s choosing.

Due to the sin a new king, one of God’s choosing, is coming in the form of Assyria.

The need for a “second birth”.

One of the analogies used in these chapters is of a woman going into labor but the child not helping the process out. We must remember this was up until “recent history” a very major issue that many women, and babies, died because of complications in childbirth.

John 3:3–4 NIV

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”

Everyone needs repentance.

Hosea 14 tells us the hope we have will only come from returning to God in repentance. What do we need to repent for today?

Repentance always produces good fruit.

Jus as sin has consequences so does repentance.

Jesus transforms all things.

This is our hope.
