(Beth read Romans 6:1-14)
and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
Are you ready to go to the other side?
There is only one way to defeat the devil and it is the Word of God.
How many of you have been thirsty?
It starts by being sick and tired of being sick and tired.
Jesus demolished the chains of bondage of sin and iniquity.
We must come to the point we no longer want to be lord over our body. We are ready to let Christ Jesus be Lord of our lives.
At first it’s determination, dedication, devotion, and desire. (Boxing illustration)
There eventually comes a point when the Word becomes life and it is evident! The Word becomes our life.
(3 months into T.C. illustration)
This is when the Holy Spirit is noticed and we come to the point where the Spirit bears witness—the Word comes alive in our lives.
We realize we are just pilgrims passing by and the living hope is going to be reality in our lives.
Habitual sin is done.
We understand 1 John 1:9 and don’t cheapen the blood.
This is the time grace becomes reality in our lives and it draws us to holiness.
Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
By accepting Jesus Christ your life is dead to sin.
There is no excuse for sin when we become alive in Christ Jesus.
We can’t be in Christ and live in sin.
We are dead to our past.
We can have a new nature and we can have a new life in Christ Jesus.
If you have selfishness, pride, addictions like meth, crack, cigarettes and pornography, those addictions can be put to death through Christ Jesus.
How many here have been delivered from alcohol and drugs?
We no longer have to be a slave to sin. Sin destroys us physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Sin stops the fruit of the Spirit from being developed.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
This is the purpose for which we have been born again.
When we have been baptized into Christ Jesus, we are no longer outside of Christ. We have been brought near to Christ. He binds us to Himself.
My old life is buried and I am united with Christ.
“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin.
No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him.
Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;
the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.
No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Christ came to take away sins.
Apostle Paul said we need not live in sin and Apostle John said we need not practice sin.
When we walk continually in sin we are not saved.
“I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word;
that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.
When Jesus changes our lives, we are a walking testimony. Do you want to be a testimony for Christ?
People will know you have been changed.
If we are truly changed, we are no longer enslaved to sin.
If we sin, it is not because we have to sin, it’s because we choose to sin.
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him.
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments.
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
For there are three that testify:
the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.
If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for the testimony of God is this, that He has testified concerning His Son.
The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.
We don’t have to do what’s wrong—we choose to.
God treats us as though we are righteous in Him. We need to see ourselves as righteous in Him and start living like we are righteous.
Are you ready to come to Christ and live your life for Him?
Some here have thought you have been saved, but there is no evidence of fruit in your life?
Or if you have back-slidden, do you want to come back and live for Jesus Christ come and we will agree with you.
