Jeremiah 1:4 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

To begin with brothers and sisters, Christian Friends, Well Wishers, and Saints of God as we glint gleam and gaze at this glorious text we can’t help notice that it God who has made us and not we ourselves. And parenthetically speaking aren’t you glad you’re in the hand of the Good Lord.

The more I researched Jeremiah the more questions arose and as I questioned the text, the Good Lord supplied the answers.And here’s what I found.

1. God said to Jeremiah I know you, in fact I knew you before you knew who you were. And tells us in 2023 that God is Omniscient.... Everybody say Omniscient Meaning God knows everything about anything that is known that can be knowable.

2. I the Lord God Yahweh ordained you to be a prophet unto the nations. When God call you into the ministry you don’t need nobody else’s approval or validation or acceptance . And furthermore in Jeremiah 1: 8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. When God says speak .....

3. Through the great Babylonian exile, the Egyptian exile, through the many controversies and conflicts Jeremiah remained a prophet for the nation. And that tells us that if there is a word from God you ought to tell it. Tell it when they want it hear it and tell it more when they don’t want to hear it. The book of Jeremiah is loaded with prophecies, poetry, prose, proclamations,and foot stomping preaching but our focus this morning will be on Jeremiah at the Potter’s House.

A lot of us have all kinds of hang ups…The bible says in Jeremiah 18:1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, 2 Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.

The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah.The Word of the Lord in this Jeremiah text is an adverbial cause that giives advice on the affairs of life in such a way that chronicles commandments, decrees, dogmas, duties , and doctrines. The Word!!!will get you straight. It will wash you up, clean you up, and purify you up.

Listen, Jeremiah didn’t just go to no Potter’s House on his own. God’s word! told him to go. God said go down to the Potter’s House. And Bishop, Pastor, Prophet, Priest, Preacher, Minister, and Evangelist whether you want to go or not, you got to go!!!or get out the business. The Lord told Jeremiah I’m sending you there because I am going to cause you to hear my Word!!! The top priority of a Child of God is not singing,praying, praising, or worshipping but it’s to be able to hear the word of God… Because faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. David said Thy word have I his in my heart that I might not sin against God. Thy word is a Lamp unto my feet and light unto my path. I will delight myself in your commandment for they are life. Those are specific orders.. And if you want things to go right in your life follow what the Lord’s is saying. Proverbs say Trust in the Lord with all thine heart lend not to thy own understanding but acknowledge God and God will direct your path. And notice that Jeremiah got the format of the formula right because getting God’s format right it will cause the formation of God’s plan to come to fruition.
Those are specific orders.. And if you want things to go right in your life follow what the Lord’s is saying. OO WEE The Prophet Jeremiah got to see a lot of us mankind’s hang ups…God made Jeremiah observe the potter, observe the clay, and metaphorically observe the flaws, fizzures, and faults of mankind. We are the clay. Yes Indeed.

Let me say publicly that I’ve got a plenty of wrong stuff with me!!! I got a lot of mess ups. I have a lot of short comings. I have made mistakes and I make mistakes everyday. I’m far from perfect. I’m flawed. I fail sometimes. I have faults that show up under God’s microscope. In short church, I’m tore up from the floor up.

As I was researching this sermon I discovered that everybody is supposed to have a scheduled trip to the potter’s house. Because being at the Potter’s House is applicable to all of us in one way or another.

Jeremiah vividly says that the clay seemed marred in the hand of the Potter.We are marred in the Hand of thee Lord and we ought to pray to God for relevant relief to our prayer. Here’s what I’m talking about what relevant relief to me might not mean nothing to you and vice/versa

So here’s a relevant prayer for relief, in 2023 Father God in the name of our Lord and savior Jesus the Christ forgive us for all of our sins, especially for any unknown hidden microscopic sins. Lord we are heartily sorrow for having offended you, for we are marred in the Potter’s Hand.

self medicating properties. Lord We realize that Our bodies are not pure , our minds are Filthy and we have not repented, our hearts are dirty and we not been properly regenerated. Lord our spirits are not converted and our souls are not yet sanctified and our behavior is not always holy, for we are marred in the Potter’s Hand.

The great prophet Jeremiah is observing you Lord as you remake the clay vessel while you mold and shape and control the clay, for we are marred in the Potter’s Hand.

Believe it or not, you and I are on the Lord’s Potter’s Wheel. We are all in the Potter’s House for one thing or another. Listen to me on Tuesday I was helping my mother with something and I said I had to get my daughter’s car fixed and she said If it ain’t one thing then it’s another.

And it hit me And as I looked at this marvelous text, “God said to me if it ain’t one thing that you’re on the potter’s wheel for it’s another. My problem might not be like your problem. Your problem might not be like my problem.But make no mistake about it EVERYBODY has got some kind of problem that it’s going to take the Good Lord to straighten out. And I’m just glad that God got me on the wheel because I’m sure when God is doing the fixing, you’ll get fixed right the first time.

A famous author, Psychologist, and motivational speaker once said that “You are where you are because that’s exactly where you want to be”. And in 2023 if you find yourself in a place in life that you don’t want to be, you have the power to make positive, plausible, potent, pious choices that will change your circumstances.

And so God tells Jeremiahin 18:5 Then the LORD spoke his word to me: 6 “Family of Israel, can’t I do the same thing with you?” says the LORD. “You are in my hands like the clay in the potter’s hands. 7 There may come a time when I will speak about a nation or a kingdom that I will pull up by its roots or that I will pull down to destroy it. 8 But if the people of that nation stop doing the evil they have done, I will change my mind and not carry out my plans to bring disaster to them.

And Once upon a time there was beautiful little tea cup um um um Yes. And the man in the antique show said beautiful little tea cup somebody is going to buy to very soon. uum um um. And sure enough a man and his lovely wife walked in the antique show. They looked around and saw the pretty little tea cup. They said sir how do you want for the beautiful little tea cup $18.25 um um and the man said well honey do you really want it ? She said yes, it’s beautiful and just then a world of personification happened and the little tea cup began to speak. Yes She said Sir I haven’t always been this beautiful no no. When my Master formed me I was just a lump of clay um And he pat on me hit me rolled and put me on the spinning wheel. yes My Master began to shape me mold me and fashion me into a vessel. Yes He made me into a tea cup and then looked at me under a microscope and I heard him saying this vessel has all kinds of cracks and flaws it won’t do Oh Lord . SO my Master took me in his hands a smashed me down flat he pat on me put water on me rolled me and made me pliable then he put me back on the wheel again he stretched me and then turned me around and around until he made me into another vessel. yes My Master looked at under the microscope and he didn’t find any cracks. Oh Lord. He began to put paint on me it smelled awful it tasted terrible Oh Lord then he stuck me in an oven and I began to cook 3x. I said it’s hot in here and I heard him saying just a little while longer . Please sir to have mercy OH Lord. He took me out of the oven and let me cool down. And as soon as I was cool my Master began to put some shellack all over me he said so I could shine. Oh yes He did. And I didn’t like it but I trusted his hand. Oh Lord . My Master stuck me back in the oven but this time he heated the furnace hotter than ever Oh Lord. I said I can’t take it!!!3x Please get me out of here! but the Lord said no I’m making you into what I want you to be. Finally HE took me out of the oven. And sat me on a cooling shelf. I was hot I was dizzy I couldn’t see clearly but after about an hour My Master came to me with a little mirror and When I saw what he was trying to make out of me I shouted for joy. Because I’m wonderfully and marvelously made in the hands of the Good Lord. Yes and just like that little tea cup She is making us into the vessel He wants us to become.
