DO YOU KNOW WHAT I KNOW Job 15:9

Job 15:9

What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us? (KJV)
(NIV) What do you know that we do not know? What insights do you have that we do not have?
Have you ever known someone who
acts like a know-it-all? They’re the
ones who talk and behave like
someone who knows everything.
There is not a subject on which they
don’t claim superior knowledge.
Sometimes they DO know more than
we do, but sometimes they don’t.
Nobody likes a know-it-all. We hate to
admit when someone knows more
than we do. It’s part of our carnal
nature to desire to be superior,
especially to those whom we consider
to be subordinate to us.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT I KNOW
Our scripture text takes us to the Book
of Job. You know the story of Job. He
had everything…and then one day he
found himself with virtually nothing.
He lost his home, his herd, and his
health. He lost his children but he
didn’t lose his nagging wife, who
foolhardy gave him misguided advice
to curse God and die.
Throughout his suffering, Job
attempts to understand the reason for
his trouble. He rightly sees man’s
frailty as the grounds for pity. He tells
his friends who come to condemn him
that they should be kind to their
fainting friend (Job 6:14). But Job’s
know-it-all friends condemn him
without the slightest fear of God. They
gang up on him and cause him even
more anguish. His dear friend Eliphaz
says, “What do you know more than
we know?” In other words, Eliphaz is
saying to Job, “What makes you so
special?” They saw their esteemed
friend Job as a know-it-all.
To be certain, there IS much we
believers know that our unbelieving
counterparts do not know. When the
Lord takes up residence in us, He
opens our eyes to the truth of His
majesty and power. The Apostle Paul
says in 1 Corinthians 2:12 that, “Now
we have received, not the spirit of the
world, but the spirit which is of God,
that we might know the things that are
freely given to us of God.” In other
words, when we accept Christ, our
spirit is awakened to the truth of the
Word.
Now I admit that there is a lot we don’t
know about the Lord, for only He is
all-knowing.
But by the same token, once we
become believers, we are not left in
the dark about God.
We may not be know-it-alls when it
comes to the application of God’s
Word in our lives, but the Holy Ghost
makes sure there are certain things we
DO KNOW for certain.
Let’s explore three things that we do
know as Believers that no one can take from us.
First, we know that we, as believers in Jesus Christ, belong to the Lord.
This is an indisputable Old Testament
truth. The Psalmist says, in Psalm 100:3,Know ye that the Lord He is God; it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.”
We can rest assured that under God’s
wise and holy command, that we are
provided for by His loving care. Even
the corrupt receive blessings from
Him, because His grace falls on the just
and the unjust (Matthew 5:45). God is
good and gracious to all of mankind.
He is our King and our Shepherd.
Man may be a lot of things, but he did
not create himself. God is our Creator,
and He is responsible for our existence
and our well-being. We may THINK we
are the reason for our personal
achievements and accomplishments,
but anything we attain comes to us by
the intervention of our Sovereign Lord.
We run and don’t get weary because
the Lord gives…
Assurance to the anxious
Blessings to the burdened
Help to the helpless
Comfort to the lonely
Deliverance to the bound
Strength to the weak
All of these benefits come to “we the
people” who call ourselves the
Children of God...because “we are His people and the sheep of His pasture”.
WE BELONG TO GOD!!!
Here’s another thing that we know.
We know that God is the Author of
every step a believer takes. “…We know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28).
By His mere omnipresence, God
governs every breathe, every step,
every second of our lives. He is
involved in our successes and our
failures, our victories and our defeats.
Our all-powerful Lord can extract
good from every inch of our lives,
even when things don’t go as we
planned or expected.
Life is full of surprises. You can make
all the plans you want, but God has
the final say. He has a plan for our lives
that supersedes all the ‘best laid plans
that we can have’. When things don’t
go your way, remember that for the
believer…all things work together for good to them that love God”.
In every situation, the Lord will help us to… Confront our problems
Speak to our mountains
Cross our valleys
Weather our storms
Subdue our fears
and win our battles!
IT’S ALL WORKING FOR MY GOOD!!!
Here’s one more thing we can be certain of. We know that God has an eternal home prepared for us.
For we know that if our house of this tabernacle shall be dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” (2 Corinthians 5:1). All of Christianity
hangs on God’s promise that Christ
has opened the door to eternity for all
who believe in Him”For to [us] to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21).
How can we be sure of our eternal
home in glory? It was the resurrection
of Jesus Christ that solidified it!
Christ’s resurrection proved the
validity and the infallibility of God’s
holy promise of eternal life. Christ’s
resurrection substantiated the
fulfillment and completion of God’s
plan of salvation.
Think about it. “If in this life ONLY we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” (1 Corinthians 15:19).
We would be living a life with a dead
end. There would be no reward for our
submission to Christ. But thankfully,
we have HOPE of eternal life because
Christ opened the door. Christ arose
and became the first fruits, even of
those who are dead…that the dead in
Christ shall live.
Eternity is a hard thing to grasp. It’s
hard to know and understand the
concept of ETERNAL…
Eternal fellowship
Eternal bliss
Eternal comfort
Eternal delight
Eternal glory!
But, as believers, we have God’s
promise that eternity is real.
I know it’s hard to fathom. Paul says it’s a mystery (1 Corinthians 15:51-52) He says, “We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”
Without this hope, death would be
greatly feared, our hearts would be
miserable and sick, our minds would
be troubled and tormented, and our
souls would have no song to sing. But
with this hope, WE KNOW that we shall
one day live with the Lord!
John 14:1  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2  In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
What do we know?
We know that we belong to God.
We know that He guides and guards
our every step.
And we know that we shall one day
live with Him in glory.
That’s enough to shout about right
there.
It’s not a figment of our imagination.
We know…and it’s gratifying.
It's not a dream seen “through rose-colored glasses”.
We know…and it’s satisfying.
It’s more than a desire or an emotional high.
We know…and it’s assuring.”
It's more than a doctrine of theological belief.
We know…and it’s exciting!
Go ahead and be a know-it-all
Believer. “Blessed assurance…Jesus
is mine. Oh what a foretaste of glory
divine; heir of salvation, purchased of
God; Born of His Spirit, washed in His
blood!”
