Me: Who gives this woman to be married to this man?
Josee: “We do”
[LETS PRAY]
[LETS PRAY]
Father, we Are surrounded by reminders that you are the creator of everything. You created man and woman in your image. You’ve ordained marriage to be the covenant union between one man and one woman. And it is one of the greatest gifts we can experience in this life. So on a day such as this, with many opportunities to be distracted with lesser things, We pause to give thanks to you for your creation & design - it’s beauty, love and joy. Most importantly, we want to glorify you in all that we do today. In Jesus name.... YOU MAY BE SEATED
[RELATIONSHIP STORY] 5 min
[RELATIONSHIP STORY] 5 min
Well it all started in OCT 2014 (yes you heard me right - 9 years ago). Being that we are now a decade away from when they met you can imagine how the stories are a little fuzzy. So I’d like to share Allyee’s side of the story and then Claytons’s side and allow you to decide which is true.
Let’s start w/ Allyee
Allyee remembers the first time she met Clay was at a HS football game - Allyee being a Bronco Bleacher Creature would likely be at every football game - Clayton being a ram from an inferior school in the valley would have sparked a playful rivalry in the relationship early on.
Allyee does say that the first OFFICIAL hang out was when Clay & Q came over to watch movies.
Clayton says: It started online through a twitter DM! He sent here a finding nemo meme followed up by another picture with a spot for her to put her phone number down and he said “Please fill out this application”… IDK what’s worse; that he sent that or that it worked!
Clayton has always been a hopless romantic: Listen to what he said his first attracted him to Allyee
“She had the brightest smile that lit up the room, an amazing laugh, obviously beautiful face, gorgeous brown eyes and I felt warmth that she brought when we were together”
Now listen to what first attracted Alyee to Clayton AND I QUOTE
“His smokin hot looks”… but she does also say “Clay radiates this genuine kindness and ease. He’s very easy going and just makes things feel simple. Ever since I met him, he’s always provided this sense of comfort and safety, he makes my heart and mind feel at peace. … Plus his smokin hot looks ;)”
Though the story of these two together starts 9 years ago - they were being prepared fro this moment their WHOLE LIFE
Clayton - son to Jon and Linda grew up with 3 brothers and 1 sister - remembers Going on roadtrips for his sister's softball games. Vacations to palm springs. Working on cars with his dad. Spending time with his mom after school. Building legos with his parents.
He would like to thank his parents for “Always taking care of me and providing for me even when times were hard. Taking care of me during my number of injuries. Always showing me love and care and always telling me how much they love me. Always supporting me during everything I wanted to accomplish. Mom, thank you for always being the sweetest most caring mother I could have ever hoped for and always supporting any of my endeavors. You taught me how to love like God loves and always encouraged me to give my life to Christ. Dad, thank you for always teaching me how to become a man and support my family. Also for the total support and time you have given to help me make what I thought would be just us working on cars together in high school into our career.”
Allyee - grew up in an all girl house with her mom JOSEE & her sister Aubree. She remembers recreating SNL skits with her sister and then hosting viewing parties for the whole family to watch. She owes who she is today to her mom, she says “My mom constantly displays the strength that God grants us. With each trial and tribulation, she showcases the importance of trusting God and persevering through any situation. I’m eternally thankful that I have a role model who inspires me to be tenacious and reminds me that through God I am always capable.”
So from their formative childhoods, to HS romance, to clayton getting on one knee in La Jolla - here we are today in the Hills of Camarillo celebrating the love of these two.
BUT More important than the story of their LOVE for each other - is the story of God’s love for them and for you. As God’s love must be the guiding principle in marriage and all of life.
[GOSPEL] 3 min
[GOSPEL] 3 min
Clayton and Allyee - It is the love of God shown to us in Jesus Christ that must guide your marriage
1 John 4:8 says that “God is love.” Romans 5:8 says that “God demonstrated His love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
You see, TODAY is the easiest day to love each other - you two look the best you’ve ever looked, you’re in a romantic setting, saying sweet words & surrounded by people you love.
but days will come when it is not as easy to love - you’ll trade tuxedo’s for mechanic shirts, romantic setting for an apartment, sweet words for harsh ones, and at times may feel isolated. How then can you continue to love each other? I’m convinced it is only possible by looking to Jesus Christ.
The reality is that NO ONE HERE looked lovely or worthy before God. We are all sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God and therefore the Bible calls us enemies of God.
Yet God loved His enemies by sending Jesus Christ, the glorious groom down to us. He lived the perfect life we couldn’t live. He made the perfect sacrifice for our sins on the cross. He rose from the dead to declare final victory over our sin and death. When we come to Him by faith, He washes us clean, He gives us a new heart, He provides rest, joy, and hope for our weary souls. He sets his affection upon us and never let’s us go. This is the gospel, the good news story of Jesus. This is love
If you do not know Jesus Christ, this love calls you today to repent of your sins and believe in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.
Clayton and Allyee, this love calls you today to love one another in the same way. This is the love that a healthy marriage is built upon
TRANSITION: And it is with this love in mind that the two will make their vows to each other. BUT FIRST...
[COMMUNION] 3 Min
[COMMUNION] 3 Min
Clayton and Allyee have decided to partake of Communion together as a couple. Communion is a symbol - designed to remind us of Christ’s love for us
The wine represents the blood Jesus spilt on the cross. The blood than can wash away our sins and appease the wrath we deserve.
The bread - represents His body. The body in which He lived a righteous life so that when we turn from sin and place our faith in Him - God sees us as if we lived Jesus’s life. We are given his righteousness.
TRANSITION: So while the music plays for just a couple minutes Clayton and Allyee will partake of communion together - to remember this love and while they do, I encourage you to think silently about this love that is offered to you.
[GODS DESIGN FOR MARRIAGE] 2 Min
[GODS DESIGN FOR MARRIAGE] 2 Min
In the beginning, God said, “Let us make man in Our image...” “God created man, Male and Female He created them.”
God said “It is not good for a man to be alone, I will make a suitable helper for Him.”
So he fashioned His most exquisite creature, WOMAN
TWO persons, both created in the image of God
Equal in value, different in nature and design
Created to consummate together in God’s most sacred relationship on earth, marriage
He said “For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh
Marriage is God-Ordained. It is His design, His masterpiece, HIS union...
Our Lord said in Matthew 19:6
“What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”
Clayton and Allyee stand before God and witnesses today ready to vow their love to one another. This is a covenant they must not break. May no man, no woman, no circumstance...separate them until death.
They have each written their vows and will read them to eachother now...

{Blake or Q] may I please have the rings?
The wedding ring is a public and personal symbol of the marriage union.
The rings tell the watching world that both Clayton and Allyee are taken, bound to each other by covenant before God and witnesses.
The rings are also a personal reminder for the couple, to remain faithful, remember their promise, and love one another unconditionally for the rest of their lives.
Take this ring Clayton, BUT before you put that ring on her finger
Do you promise to love and cherish her, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, for better or for worse, and forsaking all others keep yourself only for her, so long as you both shall live?
CLAYTON: “I do”
