Psalm 73.

How many of us believe that it is good for us to draw near to God.
It is good for us to cleanse ourselves from sin and worldiness.
Drawing closer To God is initiated by God.
God first invites us to aproach him and draw near him, since all things are of God.
Jer 30:21 “21 Their nobles shall be from among them, And their governor shall come from their midst; Then I will cause him to draw near, And he shall approach Me; For who is this who pledged his heart to approach Me?’ says the Lord.”
As we respond to this invitation and choose to draw near God, we must trust and beleive that it is good for us to draw near God.

Why is drawing near to God Good.

1. We will not Perish but live

Psalm 73:27–28 (NKJV)
27 For indeed, those who are far from You shall perish; You have destroyed all those who desert You for harlotry.
28 But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God, That I may declare all Your works.
Those who are far from The Lord will perish
However to who draw closer to God shall be received to glory
Psalm 73:24 “24 You will guide me with Your counsel, And afterward receive me to glory.”

2. We will hear the Voice of God.

Acts 7:30–32 NKJV
30 “And when forty years had passed, an Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire in a bush, in the wilderness of Mount Sinai. 31 When Moses saw it, he marveled at the sight; and as he drew near to observe, the voice of the Lord came to him, 32 saying, ‘I am the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ And Moses trembled and dared not look.
As we draw near we will hear the voice of God.
God whats us to hear his voice, inorder to hear his voice we must come near.
God brought the people of Israel to himself to the Mountain of God so that they may hear him.
They did not hear his voice in Egypt, surrounded by the abomination of the Egyptians.
Exodus 19:3–6 (NKJV)
3 And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:
4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself.
5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.
6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”
As we draw near and hear the Voice of God and are directed by the voice of God. We shall be to God his special people.
Psalm 148:14 “14 And He has exalted the horn of His people, The praise of all His saints— Of the children of Israel, A people near to Him. Praise the Lord!”
3. We will see the Power of God
Isaiah 33:13 NKJV
13 Hear, you who are afar off, what I have done; And you who are near, acknowledge My might.”
Those who are afar of are only privilage to hear what God has done.
But those who are near are privilage to to see the power of God,
Those who drew near God will witness the might of God, the power of God.
After God had brought Abraham closer to Himself, he revealed to Abraham his almightiness.
4. We will be satisified with the Goodness of God.
Psalm 65:4 NKJV
4 Blessed is the man You choose, And cause to approach You, That he may dwell in Your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, Of Your holy temple.
The people Israel after God had drawn them closer to himself, he satisfied them with his goodness.
Drew near God, you will be satisfied with his goodness.
