Fence the table

Professing repentant believers
Internally of a changed heart and having turned away from our sin to Christ
Public baptism
Externally showing to a fellow body of believers that you have died to sin, been washed, and have risen to be a new creature.
1 Corinthians 10:21 “You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.”
Not under any church discipline
No unrepentant sin or need to get right with a fellow brother or sister in christ
1 Corinthians 11:27-29 “Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself.”

Jesus installed ordinances

Baptism
Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””
Communion
Commanded to be done as a remembrance of what Jesus did on the cross, He did what no other person could. Only He could take the punishment for our sin because he knew no sin, so Jesus being sinless could be our substitutionary recipient of the punishment that was due to us because he was not due any punishment.
