Prayer: The Remedy to Worry

Who thinks worrying is a Sin?
Worry/ying is a sin and is very dangerous as it is a wound to the heart of God (Mt 6:30); an Insult.
Our worries:
Finances (Mt 6:24)
Food (Mt 6:25)
Fashion (Mt 6:25,28)
Fitness (Mt 6:27)
Future (Mt 6:34)
Matthew 6:25 KJV 1900
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Q- What is the remedy for Worry?
Prayer
The word , appears :
When you search through the King James Version of the Bible, The mention of pray/s/er/ers appears 531 times (547) but not all of them are used in the context of praying to God.
***There are over 650 prayers in the Bible, and Scripture records 25 prayers of Jesus.
The first time prayer is mentioned is in Genesis 4:26: “Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh. At that time people began to call on the name of the Lord.”
Before this passage, all dialogues with God were initiated by Him.
What is Prayer?
Talking to God; Direct Address to God. Primary way for the believer to communicate with God.
Philippians 4:6

Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV)

6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Christian Quotations Definitions Of

Prayer is the rope that pulls God and man together. But it doesn’t pull God down to us; it pulls us up to him.

William Franklin (Billy) Graham

Prayer is the Biblical Christian’s way of communicating with God (Luke 11:1 - God’s children should have a desire to pray).
We pray to praise God and thank Him and tell Him how much we love Him.
We pray to enjoy His presence and tell Him what is going on in our lives (Not that he doesn’t know).
We pray to make requests and seek guidance and ask for wisdom.
God loves this exchange with His children, just as those of us who are parents love the exchange they have with their children.
Fellowship with God is the heart of prayer.
1. All prayer must be offered in faith (Hebrews 11:6 )
Hebrews 11:6 KJV 1900
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
James 1:6 KJV 1900
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
2. Pray with clean hands and a pure heart (Psalm 24:3,4
Psalm 24:4 KJV 1900
He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; Who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, Nor sworn deceitfully.
3.Pray Genuine heartfelt prayers, rather than vain repetitions (Mat 6:7)
Matthew 6:7 KJV 1900
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
4. Make sure you are praying to the God revealed in the scriptures (Exodus 20:3-6)
Exodus 20:3–6 KJV 1900
Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
God wants us to talk with Him about everything. In doing so this weeds out any room for worry/anxiety.
How often should we pray?
The biblical answer is “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
We should keep a running conversation going with God all day long. We should just do it. We can pray under any and all circumstances.
Prayer develops our relationship with God and demonstrates our trust and ultimate dependence upon Him.
This differentiates The “wicked” unbeliever w/ the Believer as the wicked have no desire to pray (Psalm 10:4)
i.e. Except when they are in trouble and need a miracle (side-note: shouldn’t invite an unbeliever to prayer service)
Did you know: 8 Major types of prayer
1 Prayer of Faith James 5:15
2. Prayer of Agreement
3. Prayer of Petition Philippians 4:6
4. Prayer of Thanksgiving (Psalm 100:4)
5. Prayer of Worship
6. Prayer of Consecration
7. Prayer of Intercession (John 17)
8. Prayer of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:26-27)
In Conclusion,

You don't have to pray to be a Christian, and you can still be saved. Salvation is through faith alone in Christ alone. but neglect prayer long enough & your relationship will be affected.
