Lessons From History

Story Of Not listening to directions and driving to Mexico
The point was I decided to do my own thing, It did not go so well.
Jude 5–16 NIV
Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. In the very same way, on the strength of their dreams these ungodly people pollute their own bodies, reject authority and heap abuse on celestial beings. But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not himself dare to condemn him for slander but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” Yet these people slander whatever they do not understand, and the very things they do understand by instinct—as irrational animals do—will destroy them. Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion. These people are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm—shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted—twice dead. They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever. Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.
Jude here is telling the readers that God Judges sin
The false Teacher in the verses before this will be judged and so will the people that take part in the sin that they spread, unless they repent
Jude in today’s passage brings up to start with Brought the people out of Egypt
Deuteronomy 1:32 NIV
In spite of this, you did not trust in the Lord your God,
They let Fear take over and they did not enter the promise land due to the giants
Then Jude go to the fallen angels saying He even punished them
And lastly talked about Sodom and Gomorrah and how they were punished because of their Sexual immorality
The issue with all three of these examples is that they Let sin in and that sin was not addressed and it led to their downfall.
Maybe there is a sin in our lives that we let creep in
we then start to justify our sin
then we get others to join in that sin
working at chilis example
The angels saw God, the people of sodom let sin in, the people of God literally saw miracles and went against God
What sin is there in you
Jude 8 NIV
In the very same way, on the strength of their dreams these ungodly people pollute their own bodies, reject authority and heap abuse on celestial beings.
I feel this way or that way
God wants me to be happy NOPE
God cares moe about our
righteousness
faithfulness
relationship
God has called us to be joyful not hoppy
Jude 9–10 NIV
But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not himself dare to condemn him for slander but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” Yet these people slander whatever they do not understand, and the very things they do understand by instinct—as irrational animals do—will destroy them.
Not even Micheal would taught the devil
slander Asbury
we careful not to slander what God is doing
root for the person that is trying to better themselves instead of talking bad about them
Jude 11 NIV
Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion.
There is some debate to what this verse is speaking to
I & II Peter, I, II & III John, Jude B. Jude Describes False Teachers (vv. 5–16)

1. They were disobedient and unbelieving, charting their own course in life.

2. They worshiped God according to their own understanding, not according to God’s revelation.

3. They were eaten up by envy of others.

4. They hated others and had a murderous spirit, as Cain did.

5. They taught heresy as some Jewish tradition attributed to Cain.

Balaam’s error
Balaam went to curse the Israelites for money
oppose God for money
Oppose God for status
For Likes
Science
job
Numbers 16:31–32 NIV
As soon as he finished saying all this, the ground under them split apart and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their households, and all those associated with Korah, together with their possessions.
Jude gives examples of what these people are like
They are clouds without rain
blown along by the wind
Trees in Autumn No fruit
There are no good to anyone
So today what sin is holding you down, creeped in
