The Psalms are poetic narratives that were mostly intended to be sung…I’ve never seen it done in black churches do it, but, there are some traditions that believe in only singing the Psalms
The term Blessed that in the original language is ‘ashre’ - It’s used to describe someone who is fortunate or privileged
Job 5:17 “Behold, blessed is the one whom God reproves; therefore despise not the discipline of the Almighty.”
Proverbs 3:13 “Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding,”
Job, Proverbs and Psalms are from what genre of scripture?
Notice though that it says that there is three things that these blessed people don’t do, he says they don’t counsel, they don’t follow in their way, and they don’t take a seat which is to say that they don’t they don’t want to think like the wicked, they don’t want to act like the wicked and they don’t even want to deal with wicked folks
Look at verse 2 though because while they don’t want to follow them, or even deal with the wicked, the Psalmist says, that they delight in the Law of God
The Law of God is simply the word of God, so in meditation on the word we pondering over it, we’re thinking about it, we’re even questioning it to see how we’re being shaped by it
Vershe's 3 & 4 are another one of those contrasts though because he says you can be like a tree or the chaff
A tree we know gets planted, it has deep roots that keep it upright and withstands the test of time but the chaff, chaff comes from how you harvest weat - They’d take the weat to throw it in the air with a pitchfork
