The did not present correct evidence against him.
V. 60-61 As the gave false testimony He was silent -
Ps 27:12 “12 Do not give me over to the will of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing violence.”
Isaiah 53:7 “7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth. Like a lamb led to the slaughter and like a sheep silent before her shearers, he did not open his mouth.”
Lamentations 3:28-30 “28 Let him sit alone and be silent, for God has disciplined him. 29 Let him put his mouth in the dust— perhaps there is still hope. 30 Let him offer his cheek to the one who would strike him; let him be filled with disgrace.”
V. 65 He was beaten and spit upon
Isaiah 50:5–6 “5 The Lord God has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious; I did not turn back. 6 I gave my back to those who beat me, and my cheeks to those who tore out my beard. I did not hide my face from scorn and spitting.”
The way of the world is to praise the dead prophet and to persecute the living ones.
V. 62 But when they asked Him a direct question He answered with authority
Daniel 7:13–14 “13 I continued watching in the night visions, and suddenly one like a son of man was coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was escorted before him. 14 He was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, so that those of every people, nation, and language should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will not be destroyed.”
Ps 110:1 “1 This is the declaration of the Lord to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.””
V. 63-64 They accused him of blasphemy

Blasphemy involves:

Attributing something to God that He has not done.
Failing to attribute something to God that He has done.
Misrepresenting God by describing Him as something He is not.
Misrepresenting something else as God.
Jesus’ statements that he was one with the Father
John 10:30, 33 “33 “We aren’t stoning you for a good work,” the Jews answered, “but for blasphemy, because you—being a man—make yourself God.””
His forgiving sin
Luke 5:21 “21 Then the scribes and the Pharisees began to think to themselves, “Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?””
Leviticus 24:16 “16 Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord must be put to death; the whole community is to stone him. If he blasphemes the Name, he is to be put to death, whether the resident alien or the native.”

Jesus has not Blasphemed because His words are true!

Everyday of our lives we are putting Jesus on trial.
Everyday of our lives we are questioning His Word.
Everyday of our lives we are failing to believe what He has said.
From His simplest and most easy to understand words to the one that may be harder to digest.
We have to trust in the words of Jesus when He said - Come to me all who labor and are heave laden and I will give you rest.
When He says He is the way the truth and the life ..
When He says you must be born again to enter the Kingdom of God.
When He says He has not come to bring peace but a sword
When He says and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.”,
When we fail to trust the words of Jesus we are the ones guilty of blaspheming-
Beware of worshiping Jesus as the Son of God and professing your faith in him as the Savior of the world, while you blaspheme him by the complete evidence in your daily life that he is powerless to do anything in and through you.
Oswald Chambers

Trust in the words of Jesus so that you won't follow those who want to destroy Him

The one who denied Jesus

Peter
Followed him at a distance. -
Are you following Jesus at a distance?
R.C. Sproul
“He not only wanted to Keep a Safe distance He wanted to be comfortable too.“

If you believe you can maintain a safe distance and stay comfortable while following Him, you may find yourself denying Jesus when tested.

Peter was bold as he returned after he scattered.
Maybe he thought that he could not deny Jesus if he followed Him.
But he fails to Trust the Words of Jesus
He did all he could to try and discredit the words.
He cut the guys ear
He came back after being ran off
The boldness of Jesus in the face of the most powerful people of the land and big Bold Peter stupefied in the face of a maidservant -
V.70 You speech shows you are a Galilean
Pittsburgh - Southern - Maine -

Remembering the Words of Jesus should bring us you to your knees in humble adoration or bitter humiliation

Trust in the words of Jesus so that you won't follow those who want to destroy Him and, when you are tested, you won’t deny Him.
