1. Same Mind
1. Same Mind
v2 I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord.
Unity and diversity must work together or one will destroy the other. Unity without diversity is uniformity, but diversity without unity is anarchy.
Warren Wiersbe
The word mind-set is distinct through the letter to the Philippians. Here Pauls implores Euodia and Syntyche to be united in mind-set. In other words they should stand fast in this mindset. What is the mind-set
A. Their purpose is the Gospel
A. Their purpose is the Gospel
He has been praying for them since the first day of fellowship in the gospel 1:3
He encouraged the Philippians to continue with gospel. Why? because God will even use what the enemy used for evil and use it for good.
B. Their disposition

Humility -
Don’t hold tight to this world
Paul did not hold tight to this world
1:19-26 should I stay or Go?
Philippians 1:19-26 “For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you. And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith, that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again.”
Christ did not think highly of himself in fact he was selfless
let nothing be done through selfish ambition
Philippians 2:5–8 (NKJV)
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

3. Pauls example of forgetting the things of the past and pressing forward.
a. Philippians 3:13–14 (NKJV)
13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
2. Help
2. Help
A.Help with what?
To bring unity.
How?
By aiding in a “perspective change.”
Here is the problem.
Euodia and Syntyche had disunity.
The fix was that they needed help getting God’s prospective
From Context
They need to be reminded of their Purpose and Dispositions
A. They are citizens or their names are in the book of life
+It is by grace they are saved.
-this brings everyone to an equal playing field
-the gospel produces Humility
Application we are called to not run away from the hard but to run to the hard thing as bridge builders. Ushering other to prospective change that will produce unity
3. Rejoice in the Lord always
3. Rejoice in the Lord always
When we understand the grace that saves us and it produces in us the disposition of our heart that manifest or expresses itself through humility. Another response besides Unity is rejoicing.
When we are rejoicing in what God has done for us. That we are citizens of heaven by grace. It is hard to fall into the hands of the evil workers teaching a works righteousness or legalism.
Since we are rejoicing that we are found in Him
The New King James Version Chapter 3
9 and be found in Him, not having omy own righteousness, which is from the law, but pthat which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
4. Let your gentleness be known
4. Let your gentleness be known
Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
Two things stand out
Our testimony is to be gentleness/gracious/forbearance/sincerity to be known
be known is a command
We are being command that our MOTIVE for our conduct be made known to those around us.
It not just because he says so
It is because The Lord is at hand
Their needs to be a sense of urgency
We do not have time to mess around
It is time for you to care for your neighbor now.
It is time for you to prioritize serving Lord in your family now
5. Be worried/anxious for nothing
5. Be worried/anxious for nothing
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
Anxious or Worried - about things that out of your hands.
Epaphroditus’ Health was out of their hand
they didn't know what was going to happen
Disunity
Confusion
For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.
When someone’s standard is perfection it can cause Anxiousness (legalism)
or when we compare ourselves to others
What is the remedy?
Prayer giving our supplications with thanksgiving when we pray we are making our request be made known to God
A Psalm of Asaph.
Truly God is good to Israel,
To such as are pure in heart.
But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled;
My steps had nearly slipped.
For I was envious of the boastful,
When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
For there are no pangs in their death,
But their strength is firm.
They are not in trouble as other men,
Nor are they plagued like other men.
Therefore pride serves as their necklace;
Violence covers them like a garment.
Their eyes bulge with abundance;
They have more than heart could wish.
They scoff and speak wickedly concerning oppression;
They speak loftily.
They set their mouth against the heavens,
And their tongue walks through the earth.
Therefore his people return here,
And waters of a full cup are drained by them.
And they say, “How does God know?
And is there knowledge in the Most High?”
Behold, these are the ungodly,
Who are always at ease;
They increase in riches.
Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain,
And washed my hands in innocence.
For all day long I have been plagued,
And chastened every morning.
If I had said, “I will speak thus,”
Behold, I would have been untrue to the generation of Your children.
When I thought how to understand this,
It was too painful for me—
Until I went into the sanctuary of God;
Then I understood their end.
Surely You set them in slippery places;
You cast them down to destruction.
Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment!
They are utterly consumed with terrors.
As a dream when one awakes,
So, Lord, when You awake,
You shall despise their image.
Thus my heart was grieved,
And I was vexed in my mind.
I was so foolish and ignorant;
I was like a beast before You.
Nevertheless I am continually with You;
You hold me by my right hand.
You will guide me with Your counsel,
And afterward receive me to glory.
Whom have I in heaven but You?
And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.
My flesh and my heart fail;
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
For indeed, those who are far from You shall perish;
You have destroyed all those who desert You for harlotry.
But it is good for me to draw near to God;
I have put my trust in the Lord God,
That I may declare all Your works.
Here is the promise
When we get into the presence of God
When we get into the presence of God
+we receive the peace of God
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
6. Meditate on these things
6. Meditate on these things
When I am living out my faith their is the blessing of peace.
-Doing the next right thing
Noble
Just
Pure
Lovely
Good Report
Virtue
Praise worthy
Paul say to take these into account. It is giving the idea of separating the good and back or the flesh and the spirit
THEN DO Them.
We should not expect blessing when we are living against God.
O God will you bless this relationship with my girlfriend that sleeping with and doing drugs with.
when you pray like that the blessing is coming “God is going to allow it to be extremely uncomfortable because He loves you”
and the God peace will be with you.
He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
