Greatness is something that most of us strive for in our lives. Not many of us are thinking in our mind, “man I hope I live the most average life on the face of the planet.” We typically are wanting to be known for being good at our job, sports, school work, etc. We have a desire to be greater than the next person or thing.
I am a big sports and music fan. There are debates all the time about who is the better athlete or artist. For sports people typically have strong opinions on the greatest basketball player, football player, soccer player, etc. In the same way, people are divided over artists and genres of music.
The reality of music and athletes is that one day they won’t be playing any longer. In 100 years many will not even recognize the names of the people playing and singing today. In fact, according to Aaron Holt of the National Archives and Records administration, the memory of someone in your family lineage will be forgotten completely in about 3 generations.
Now this doesn’t seem like the most exciting message you have ever heard. Maybe it has you feeling a little sad, or rebellious and you’re like ohhhh i’m going to make sure they know me.
