Anointing and the Antichrist

outline:
Two paths in the end-times:
The way of the ANtiChrist
Stands opposed to :
The plans of God
The People of God
The Will of God
The way of the anointing:
Knows the will of God
Walks in the ways of God
Accomplishes the Mission of God
Does the works of Jesus
Lives an empowered life to overcome the ways of this World
(John 16:33)
(Matthew 16:18)
(Romans 8:37)
1 John 2:20–27 (CSB)
But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth. I have not written to you because you don’t know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie comes from the truth. Who is the liar, if not the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This one is the antichrist: the one who denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father; he who confesses the Son has the Father as well.
What you have heard from the beginning is to remain in you. If what you have heard from the beginning remains in you, then you will remain in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that he himself made to us: eternal life.
I have written these things to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you. As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you don’t need anyone to teach you. Instead, his anointing teaches you about all things and is true and is not a lie; just as it has taught you, remain in him.
There are two things at play in this world-
Those who are anointed by God-
The Antichrist

The Antichrist- and the Influence of the Antichrist

1 John 2:22 (CSB)
Who is the liar, if not the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This one is the antichrist: the one who denies the Father and the Son.

DENY

1. arneomai (ἀρνέομαι, 720) signifies (a) “to say … not, to contradict,”

-It is to deny Jesus
The work of Jesus
The teachings of Jesus
The Identity of Jesus

Three false doctrines of that day:

1. That Jesus is not the Christ.

2. That God is not the Father of Jesus.

3. That Jesus is not the Son of God.

And make that a form of Teaching others
You don’t need Jesus
You can find healing this way
Happiness is found is money
Power
Possessions
It is any anything or anyone that opposes the words and Works of Jesus Christ is under the influence of the Antichirst
Pluralism-
Jesus said
John 14:6 CSB
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
To try and make Jesus one way among many is an attack on who He is -
But his is the world that we live in
AntiChrist

antichristos (ἀντίχριστος, 500) can mean either “against Christ” or “instead of Christ,” or perhaps, combining the two, “one who, assuming the guise of Christ, opposes Christ”

The name Antichrist does not designate a single individual, but a single kingdom, which extends throughout many generations.
John Calvin

Chart: The Antichrist

Anyone against Christ is antichrist. In this sense there are many (1Jn. 2:18, 22; 4:3; 2Jn. 1:7), but the one referred to here is yet to come.

Fifteen Titles of the Antichrist:

1. Antichrist (1Jn. 2:18)

2. The Assyrian (Isa. 10:20–27; 30:18–33; 31:4–32:20; Mic. 5:3–15)

3. The King of Babylon (Isa. 14:4)

4. The Spoiler (Isa. 16:4, note)

5. The Extortioner (Isa. 16:4)

6. Gog, the Chief Prince of Meshech and Tubal (Ezek. 38:2–3, note)

7. The little horn (Dan. 7:8, 24; 8:9, 23)

8. King of Fierce Countenance (Dan. 8:23)

9. The Prince that Shall come (Dan. 9:26–27, notes)

10. The King of the north (Dan. 11:5–45)

11. The Man of sin (2Th. 2:1–12)

12. The Son of perdition (2Th. 2:1–12)

13. The Wicked (Isa. 11:4)

14. That Wicked (2Th. 2:8–12)

15. The Beast (Dan. 7:11; Rev. 13)

The AntiChrist is opposed to God, and the people of God
Jesus Says-
John 15:18–19 CSB
“If the world hates you, understand that it hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own. However, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of it, the world hates you.
He isn’t speaking of the people, but the kingdom at work trying to stop the kingdom of God.
John 16:33 CSB
I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”
1 John 2:18 CSB
Children, it is the last hour. And as you have heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. By this we know that it is the last hour.
You can see it in this world already-
It is teaching that stands apposed to the Word of God
To the people of God
and to the plans of God

The Anointed-

1 John 2:20 (CSB)
But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.

That believers have “an anointing from the Holy One” indicates that this anointing renders them holy, separating them to God. The passage teaches that the gift of the Holy Spirit is the all efficient means of enabling believers to possess a knowledge of the truth.

John tells us we have an anointing for the Holy One- to know the truth
The anointing is not some mystical something out there. The anointing is the presence and power of God manifested.
Rodney Howard-Browne
We know God because we experience the presence of God in our life.
WE encounter Him
John already spoke of Fellowship with God
and the outcome is walking as He walks- 1 John 2:6
1 John 2:6 CSB
The one who says he remains in him should walk just as he walked.
It is because we have the Spirit of God we have the presence of God we have understand and know God’s will and plan
It is because we have the Spirit
1 Corinthians 2:16 CSB
For who has known the Lord’s mind, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
We have the mind of Christ
Anointing - an unction-

Greek: chrisma (GSN-<G5545>), anything smeared on; a scented unguent or ointment of thicker consistency than muron, sweet oil or perfume. Translated “unction” (1Jn. 2:20) and “anointing” (1Jn. 2:27)

The ointment here refers to the Holy Spirit from whom flows all the gifts and graces of the church.

God’s anointing is for a reason-
We walk by the Spirit(Gal 5:16
Speak by the Spirit (Matt 10:20)
We live by the Spirit (Gal 5:25)
The anointing of the Holy Spirit is unlimited. It is we that set the limits.
Benny Hinn
2 Corinthians 1:21 CSB
Now it is God who strengthens us together with you in Christ, and who has anointed us.
We are anointed to minister- To do the ministry that Christ did
Luke 4:18 CSB
The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed,
Acts 10:38 CSB
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how he went about doing good and healing all who were under the tyranny of the devil, because God was with him.
Jesus says, Matthew 16:18
Matthew 16:18 CSB
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.
We are anointed to stand, and to win!
We are anointed to be more than conquerors
We are anointed to be light that Shines through the darkness!
Romans 8:31–39 CSB
What, then, are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He did not even spare his own Son but gave him up for us all. How will he not also with him grant us everything? Who can bring an accusation against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies. Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is the one who died, but even more, has been raised; he also is at the right hand of God and intercedes for us. Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: Because of you we are being put to death all day long; we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
