How does someone become the best in 3 different positions?
Out works everyone else and has phenomenal talents.
Jesus is Prophet, Priest and King. Why does he hold these 3 positions? He is God.
Certain people are respected because of their position. The title entitles them to respect.
Position also gives privilege that others can benefit from.
-A doctor has the privilege to write prescriptions.
John 6:1–15 ESV
1 After this Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. 2 And a large crowd was following him, because they saw the signs that he was doing on the sick. 3 Jesus went up on the mountain, and there he sat down with his disciples. 4 Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand. 5 Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” 6 He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. 7 Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little.” 8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, 9 “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?” 10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. 11 Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted. 12 And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, “Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.” 13 So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten. 14 When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, “This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!” 15 Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself.
Jesus' positions provides life.
He also calls us to offer this life to the world.

5 Ways We Can Offer Life

1. Join Jesus' Work (1-2)

John 6:1–2 ESV
1 After this Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. 2 And a large crowd was following him, because they saw the signs that he was doing on the sick.
You don't experience Jesus through feelings.
You don’t experience Jesus through selfish motives.— “I want to see a miracle!”
You experience Jesus through obedience.
God is always at work around us. Join him!
There was cost for these people to come find Jesus. They risked not eating. They risked travel. They risked not celebrating the Passover as per their tradition.

2. Share Jesus’ Empathy (3-5)

John 6:3–5 ESV
3 Jesus went up on the mountain, and there he sat down with his disciples. 4 Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand. 5 Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?”
Passover- it was a Sabbath (not 7th Day but treated the same way)
If they didn't eat at this time they would have to wait another 24 hours to prepare food.
Empathy- if it’s not your spiritual gift you need to learn it. Put yourself in their shoes. Feel their hurt, pain, desperateness, etc.
Song “Give Me Your Eyes” By Brandon Heath
Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missin'
Give me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken-hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see

3. Give Jesus All (6-9)

John 6:6–9 ESV
6 He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. 7 Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little.” 8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, 9 “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?”
Ministry is expensive- it is overwhelming
We will never have enough-
We give all we have and God multiplies it for his purpose.
Galatians 2:20 ESV
20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Psalm 24:1 ESV
1 The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein,

4. Recognize Jesus' Grace (10-13)

John 6:10–13 ESV
10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place.
No one deserved Jesus' grace.
They sat down- surrender
And ate- received the gift.
God's grace was more than enough.
2 Corinthians 9:8 ESV
8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
The Prodigal Son- when he came to his senses and decides to return home he says,
Luke 15:17 ESV
17 “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger!

5. Know Jesus' Position (14-15) (47-51)

John 6:14–15 ESV
14 When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, “This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!” 15 Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself.
Jesus serves as prophet, priest and king.
Prophet= speaks for God
Priest= intercedes between man and God
King= God appointed political leader.
Messiah- the promised one- the Prophet, foretold in O.T.
King of the Jews-Political side of Messiah- It was not time.
Spiritual Messiah-
John 6:35 ESV
35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
John 6:47–51 ESV
47 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50 This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
The life comes through his death on the cross.
he died so we may live.
