Are you really ready should He return today?

This past week someone asked me a question that I didn’t expect to hear – “Are you ready for God?”

I want to ask you the same question some want to stop me here saying “I’m not good with commitments” or “I’m just not ready to hear about that.”  And I fear that is true most aren’t ready or prepared for His return!

Matthew 24:36-44KJV

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Through the ages people have tried to read prophecy and to pick and choose when the Lord would return. They last came up with a year of 2012. But we don’t know when the Lord will come for us no man knows that day!

Verse 36 – 39

1.   The day is hidden from our eyes!

a.       No man knows the day nor the hour

Matthew 25:13KJV

13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Watch doesn’t mean to try to figure out when He is returning it means just that; “watch out!)

b.      What were the days of Noah?

Genesis 6:11-13KJV

11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

c.       Many today are making excuses for their lifestyles, living in sin. Even the so called “Christian” of today haven’t been watching for His return

Proverbs 24:12KJV

12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

2.   One shall be taken the other left, which one are you!

a.       Too many take it for granted they are ready because of their minds but God searches more than the mind He knows your heart!

b.      Just because everyone else here might think you are good doesn’t mean a thing!

Matthew 7:21-23KJV

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

3.   Watch out! You may be next!

a.       Are you really watching?

Mark 13:33-37KJV

33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. 34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. 35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: 36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. 37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

b.      The day is coming!

1 Thessalonians 5:2-3KJV

2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

c.
