John 3:1-21
John 3:1-21
Nicodemus- Pharisee, ruler of the Jews, came to Jesus at night, Says he knows Jesus comes from God because of the signs, Does not understand the second birth, He is amazed to hear that you must be born again, He asks Jesus how this can be, Called a teacher by Jesus, Doesn’t understand, Jesus tells him if he can’t understand earthly things he won’t understand heavenly things.
Jesus- Nicodemus comes to Him at night, Is doing signs, God is with Him, Tells Nicodemus he must be born again to enter the Kingdom, Critics Nicodemus for his lack of understanding because he is a teacher, speaks of what he knows and has witnessed but is not believed, He ascended into heaven by first descending, He will be lifted up like the snake in the wilderness with Moses, Whoever believes in Jesus will have eternal life, He is the Only Son of God, those who believe Him will not perish but have eternal life, He did not come to condemn the world, Through Him the world is saved, Those that believe are not condemned, By not believing in Him you are condemned already.
Born Again- Cannot see the Kingdom of God, One birth is of water one is of the Spirit, both are needed to enter the Kingdom,
John 1:12-13 “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
Galatians 6:15 “For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.”
1 Peter 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”
1 Peter 1:23 “since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;”
