a. People have a gospel problem. They don’t know it. Romans 3-5, 1 Cor 15 1-4, 2 Cor 5:21.
b. The gospel of Salvation has been perverted, watered down, and confused. Gal 1:7.
c. Having a clear understanding of the gospel would enhance the number of people being saved in the church today 100%.
d. What people think saves them, can be a problem. We need to know the gospel
that saves during this dispensation of grace.
2. Perverted gospel (there are 3 components that has to be in any gospel
message.)
a. Ignores sin. Sin makes salvation necessary. 1 Tim 1:15.
b. Excludes Jesus. No Jesus or wrong Jesus. 2 Cor 11:4.
c. Excludes the cross. (perverts the cross) most common. 1 Cor 1:17, 2:2, Gal 6:14.
d. Adds works. (perverts grace) issue in Gal. Gal 2:16, 3:2, Rom 4:5, 11:6.
3. Wrong gospels (wrong for being watered down, missing elements, +works)
a. Watered down. God loves me, believe in Jesus, inviting Him into my life,
personal relationship with Him,
b.Missing Jesus/cross. confessing sin, turning from sin, asking for forgiveness,
born again, feeling His presence, accepting Him as my personal savior,
receiving Jesus.
c. Adding works to grace. Going to church, church membership, being good,
doing the best I can, keeping the commandments, making him the Lord of
my life, I’ve been baptized, confessing my sins
4. Cause of confusion (to clear it up we must know the cause)
a. Tolerating heresy, departing from scripture: solution, believe
the bible.
b. Listening to some preachers, trying to over simplify: preach
the bible.
c. The greatest benefit from studying and knowing your bible is
the fact that you will know the right gospel to share with
others and be saved yourself.
