A need for a Savior

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for OUR - YOURS- MY sins according to the scriptures.
ANALOGY - Someone is choking on the floor and there starting to lose consciousness. This person is dying and as much as we would like to believe that somehow this person can resuscitate themselves we know they can’t. It takes someone to intervene or come to the rescue......A savior - someone who can save their life.
It’s the same thing for us. We have inherited this sinful nature. We are destined to hell unless someone intervenes and saves us.
Another way of thinking about it is like this. Your swimming and you start to have some sever cramping and you start to realize your going to drown because you can’t swim because of all this pain your in. There is a man standing there ready and even desiring to save you.
Now, there is a man there who is more than capable of saving you. The question is do you reject his help or do you acknowledge that your drowning and accept his help.
For all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God......We are all swimming and are not capable of swimming to safety ourselves. We all sinned, we have all sinned against God. and we need someone to save us in order that we can be reunited with God as it was before sin entered this world with Adam and Eve in the Garden.
Do you recognize your a sinner?
Last year we talked a lot about finding the truth. and we talked about people in the Bible called the pharisees believed you had to follow this law in order to get to heaven. Today we still have people that believe that you must do these good deeds. We must follow God’s commandments. But in Galatians we learned that absolutely not. For we are saved by grace not because of anything you have done. There is nothing you can do to earn your way to heaven. For it is by faith in Jesus Christ who gave himself up for you. His death and resurrection.
The law or the commandments were given to man as a means to show us we are not perfect. We can’t swim to safety.
