What is biblical manhood?

What do you think?
Define a man in you opinion
What is a biblical man of God?
How do I demonstrate Christ as a man if I lead with Pride?
How about if I lead with humility?
How about if I lead with Selfishness?
How about if I lead with servant mindedness?
How are you living up to this?
Biblical manhood can be boiled down to five basic principles, which each man is expected to conform to. These are 1) humility before his God, 2) control of his appetites, 3) protecting his family, 4) providing for his family, and 5) leading his family. Men who fail to meet these expectations are not behaving as “men,” biblically speaking, but as something less noble
Psalm 49:20 ESV
Man in his pomp yet without understanding is like the beasts that perish.
We are biologically, psychologically, and emotionally distinct. This is not in any sense a bad thing; God called His original creation, which included distinct genders, “very good”
Genesis 1:31 ESV
And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
Why does Biblical manhood require godly view of women?
Ephesians 5:25–32 ESV
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.
The goal of every believer’s life is to become more and more Christlike.
How does God make this happen to a man as the man learns a proper role of Biblical manhood and servant like love?
Romans 8:29 ESV
For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
CONTROL URGES AND APPETITES
1 Thessalonians 4:3–5 ESV
For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God;
How do we do this?
Protect one’s family; wife and children
Ephesians 5:25 ESV
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,
Nehemiah 4:14 ESV
And I looked and arose and said to the nobles and to the officials and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes.”
Also provide spiritual protection.
What does this mean?
Honor women as the weaker vessel.
Invokes something precious, expensive, and valuable
1 Peter 3:7 ESV
Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
Bible calls men to provide for their families and for women to take care of the home.
1 Timothy 5:8 ESV
But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
WE are not to lead in a domineering role representing arrogance but in LOVE, SERVICE, AND SACRIFICE

Are men and women equal in God’s eyes?

Genesis 1:27 ESV
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Agree or Disagree?
equally sinners
equally forgiven
equally indwelt by Spirit
equally heirs of God
Than why are we any better?
Does a screwdriver and a hammer have different roles in the shop?
Which one is more important?
What does it mean that a woman is a weaker vessel?
nothing to do with mental or spiritual capabilities.
Genesis 3:16–17 ESV
To the woman he said, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be contrary to your husband, but he shall rule over you.” And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;
She wants to rule over man,
The harmonious relationship between man and woman was broken.
But this doesn’t make her inferior.
1 Peter 3:7 ESV
Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
1 Timothy 2:11–15 ESV
Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.
If a quarterback calls the plays on the football field, does that make him any more valuable as a person than a tight end???
What can women do?
Can you bear a child?
Fact: women have special God-given roles.
These should be celebrated.
Give examples

Since women preachers can be just as good as men, doesn’t that mean they are called to preach?

Women are called to many areas of service, and they receive gifts from the Holy Spirit just as men do. They should fulfill those callings and use those gifts just as men should. Women with a gift for teaching should use that gift, but within scriptural guidelines. Those guidelines can be found in 1 Timothy 2:12. The emphasis is clear: God designates qualified men to be the leadership in the church with women and most men serving in supporting roles. This does not necessarily mean that men cannot or should not learn from women; it means that women should not have spiritual authority over men. The position of pastor or elder is a role reserved for men—who must also meet certain qualifications
Titus 1:7–9 ESV
For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.
Women:
1 Timothy 2:12 ESV
I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.
women teach other women and children

So what is a Biblical man of God?

How are you living up to this?
What changes do you want to make in your life in the way you are as a man?
