The living hope
1 Peter 1:2-5
Christians do not work for this hope in any way; it is a part of his spiritual birthright.
This hope isn’t just a living hope; it’s a lasting hope. (It doesn’t matter how you feel.)
It’s a hope that doesn’t decay; it’s incorruptible. It doesn’t lose its beauty and delight. It’s not only reserved and kept--it’s guarded as by a soldier by the Lord.
It’s kept by God’s power because of the faith we have placed in Him.
It’s because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, believers have been begotten again, and that hope includes the glory of God.
The living hope isn’t built by men but by God Himself.
It will be founded in righteousness, peace, and contentment.
God’s glory will illuminate. There will be no need for night.
The glory of God means the sum total of all that God is and does.
The living hope is based on God’s grace and love.
The plan of salvation includes more than the Father’s elective love. It also includes the work of the Spirit in convicting the sinner and bringing him to faith in Christ.
The living hope is grounded by the Word and made possible by the living Son of God who arose from the dead.
The living hope is one that has life in it and therefore can give life to us because it has life, it grows and becomes greater and more beautiful as time goes on.
Time destroys most hopes. They fade and then die.
But the passing of tie only makes a Christian’s hope that much more glorious.
When we realize Christ has brought us through the fire it builds us up solid in Christ.
