Submission - It’s a word that the World has changed somewhat, but in it’s biblical form it’s beautiful.
Submission is what is required of us, and submission is what was modelled by Jesus.
Jesus came down from Heaven - Was born a virgin, grew up a carpenters Son, mocked by his family, grew up to be hated by many, arrested, beaten, tortured before eventually being put on a cross, spat on and mocked - all in submission to the plan to save you.
even to the point of sweating blood and begging God to take away the pain of the cross.
All to provide salvation to you, because He Loves you. This amazing act of love that sent Jesus is called AGAPE - it’s sacrifical, selfless, and it’s giving over.
What is our response to this love? It’s exactly what Jesus modelled - Submission to a loving God - Submission to His plans - as we take communion today, Jesus is asking - Am I good enough for you to submit your life to.
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,
As you come to the table today - Let’s humble ourselves in complete submission to the love of Jesus - You are welcome.
