Missions
Missions
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Missions are at the heart of God! Missions are the “Go” of the great commission. It is the purpose we have to fill. Go and make disciples of all the nations
The word nations here can also mean foreigners or different ethnicities. People different than you people. Missions goes to people different than we.
Some times the call to missions is to go to another people in a different geographical location.
But we have many people groups in our great country. we are a nation of foreigners in a sense. how many of us here today have come from different people in our past and history?
As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.
Paul was sent on missionary trips to preach the gospel and fullfill the commission of Christ.
We need power in us to reach other people.
Other people don’t think like us, act like us or live like us. We need God’s power in us to reach them.
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
On the day of pentecost God gave them the power to speak in tongues… in the languages of all those around. Hearing the gospel in their own language translated by the holy spirit through God’s people!
God has called us all to serve Him. Its a mission.. Will we respond and go?
How beautiful upon the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
Today we can influence and touch lives across the globe through our prayers and giving. Many people, of all kinds and sorts are coming to Jesus!
Lets remember the workers that are working the fields today!
