Beach Retreat kind of community + groups (consistency, closeness, and challenge)

Introduction

The problem: Our lasting joy goes hand in hand with us living for the glory of God, but we so often act for our own temporary interests instead of the glory of God.
The good news tonight: Help is here! (John 14:16)
Acts 19:2 — They didn’t know about the Holy Spirit.
1989 Declaration of Independence, sold for $4, worth $2M in 1991, $8M in 2000 (I1)
Many of our churches love the Father and the Son but act like they don’t know the Spirit. Before we can live the Spirit-empowered life, we need to know who the Spirit is.

Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity.
Explain the Trinity — if God can fit between your ears, he’s too small
He is not a force — He speaks (Acts 13:2), teaches (John 14:26), guides (Acts 8:29), can be grieved (Eph. 4:30), etc.
God (the Father), God with us (Jesus), God in us (Spirit, gift when born again)
Read and explain 2 Corinthians 3:12-18
If you feel like your faith is a roller coaster, you’re struggling to resist sin, or find peace in trials, etc. you need the Holy Spirit!
