Peninnah was mean to Hannah because she could not bare any children
In those days, if you were a women that could not have children, you were looked at as a curse
-Hannah takes her grief to God through prayer

She makes a vow to God (To dedicate the child to the Lord)
As she prays, God takes away her grief
Her depression and bitterness is gone and her joy returns

Hannah gives birth to Samuel
God gave Hannah a burden for a child and she brought the burden to the Lord and He answered her prayer
God rewards Hannah’s obedience with answer to prayer

She was willing to give the child back to the Lord
As badly as she wanted the child, she was faithful to keep her promise to God.

Elkanah understood the difficulty in keeping the vow

Hannah is witness of God’s goodness to the priest
1 Sam 1:26-27 ““Sir, do you remember me?” Hannah asked. “I am the very woman who stood here several years ago praying to the Lord. I asked the Lord to give me this boy, and he has granted my request.”

- Hannah was obedient to the vow she promised God
I just had an experience similar to this as I presented myself to multiple pastors and said do you remember me?
-I presented myself, as to say, look at the work the Lord has in me

Hannah’s heart rejoicing because God defended her, through answering her prayer
Remember, she was looked at as a curse because she was barren
