What on Earth am I here for?

It all starts with God.
Colossians 1:16 NIV
For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
The message version reads this way, For everything, absolutely everything above and below, visible and invisible.... everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him.
It’s not about you. We live in a me centered culture.
If you want to know why you were placed on this planet , you must begin with God.
You were born by his purpose and for his purpose.
We begin at the wrong starting point. Focusing on ourselves will never reveal our life’s purpose.
Scripture says, “It is God who directs the lives of his creatures; everyone’s life is in his power.”
You want find your purpose in and of yourself, only the creator or the owner’s manual can explain that.
It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.
Eph. 11:12
you discoer your identity and purpose through a relationship with Jesus Christ. If you don’t have such a relationship, let’s dive into that more.
God was thinking about you long before you ever though about Him. He planned your existence long before you existed. “You may choose your spouse, your career and your hobbies, but you don’t get to choose your purpose.
Your purpose is much bigger than a 9-5.
2. You are not an accident .
Isaiah 44:2 NIV
This is what the Lord says— he who made you, who formed you in the womb, and who will help you: Do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.
Albert Einstein once said, God does not play dice.
Your parents may not have planned you, but God did.
He thought of you first.
You are alive because god wanted to create you.
Think of this for a moment, He deliberately chose your race, the color of your skin, your hair and every other feature because he costumed made you just the way he wanted.
Scripture says, you know me inside and out. You know every bone in my body.
Nothing in life is arbitrary, it is all for a purpose.
God’s motive for creating you was his live.
Anything custom made is more valuable. (expand on how the earth was also custom made for us.)
Read poem if time allows.
3. What drives you?
Ecclesiastes 4:4 NIV
And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
Everyone’s life is driven by something, so what drives you?
Many people are driven by different things..
guilt.
resentment and anger.
fear.
materialism.
the need for approval
...
here’s what knowing your purpose does.
it gives meaning to your life.
Job said, My life drags by-day after hopeless day and I give up, I am tired of living, leave me alone, My life makes no sense.
the greatest tragedy is not death, but it is not living life with purpose.
It simplifies your life.
Love God, love people. It will also bring you peace.
Focuses your life.
Motivates your life.
prepares you for eternity.
