1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Paul writing to the Roman church a church that was in midst of various types of temptations and morality.
Paul has a great love for the Roman church a love as father has a child that that has gone astray.
A love the love them unconditional just the way the are but a love that love them so much that admonish them to change and live up to their true potential and heritage.
Paul said he love them so much that he would lay his down (Romans 9:3
3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
I urge by the grace, mercy and strength of the Almighty God to offer , yield our physical body, ( God wants to use our physical bodies just as he used Jesus physical to do His will and purpose on this earth).
Be not conformed ( sys- che- ma-tizo) to be or become behaviorally or socially similar to. To be shaped, fashion, or molded to a certain pattern.
Be transformed )metmorphoo - to become changed in outward appearence or expression as manifesting a change in nature or essence. 2 Cor 5:17
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
How does God transform us.
By Renewing our minds_ when we continually received Him. John 1:12
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
God rewrites the script of our past, presence, and our future- By allowing our past sins, failures, mistakes, and victories to be a testimony of His grace and mercies.
He allows us to count it all joy when we go trails and tribulations.
He give hope, purpose, visions for a future to change from glory to glory. 2 Cor 3: 17-18
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Transformation does not just happen by the spirit alone
Transformation requires submitting to instructions, training ,and coaching.
Athletes, vocalist, mechanic, nurses, and doctors all have one thing in common the all have been trained, coached, and instructed
Joshua- Moses Timothy - Paul
Likewise of us should have spiritual mentors, coaches.
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
God wants us to have victory in every area of our lives.
