Doctrine: God the Son
In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it....
The word BECAME FLESH…and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and Only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
- These are some of the most profound theological statements in all of scripture.
This week we see that Jesus, the son of God- is Fully God…and Fully man...
God the Son- has always existed…He is the 2nd person of the eternal trinity- which is made up of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirt.
Each person of the trinity is distinct and yet- one.
So that means Jesus- the Son of God- is fully God in every way. He is eternal. Creator. the source of light and life.
But- Jesus- the very son of God- who is equal to the Father, is unique because only He BECAME human in every way- except that which leads to sin.
He did not come into a human..he BECAME a human- he became flesh.
He is NOT 1/2 God and 1/2 human…He IS fully God and He IS fully man.
God the son- became a man- so that he could pay the penalty for sin..
And for all who put their faith in him-they are now a child of God.
God the son also came to reveal the Father.
To know Jesus- God the Son…is to know God…you cannot know God apart from Jesus.
See- only Jesus- as a human- could reveal the Father and only he, could die and save all who would believe in His name.
Jesus will come again in power and great glory to set up His kingdom, bringing believers to their eternal home, and judge those who have rejected His way of salvation.
When I do not believe in Jesus and turn to Him for salvation from the just penalty of my sin, I will bear the deserved punishment for my sin. On a future day, I will face Jesus not as Savior, but as Judge.
When I DO believe that Jesus is God the Son, I understand He loves me in the fullest possible way and died to save me from sin and death Jesus changes the direction of my life- he gives me identity and purpose . And I live knowing that I will worship Jesus for all eternity.
– Jesus came to earth to show us what God is like—His power, love, compassion, and truth.
– How might John’s Gospel help you grow in your love for Jesus and knowledge of God? –
There is no greater honor than to share truth about Jesus.
– You are not here to merely fill a needed role. Your service is ultimately about
magnifying Jesus, God the Son.
– Your life, including your service at BSF, allows you to reflect to others the light Jesus shines within you.
– How will you keep your focus on this extreme privilege as you serve women, students, or children this year?
– There is power, hope, light, and life in the name of Jesus!

Ladies-
As you know, our class has grown significantly. Women and children are longing to hear God’s word. Last year we had 14 groups meeting in this building- this year we have 22, including our pop up group.
Please know that we recognize that some of your locations are not ideal. We have spoken with many of you who voiced concerns specifically in regards to hearing in your group. We know..we see you…and you are not alone.
Our mission at BSF is to magnify God and mature his people.
How might God be magnified in your group and your women matured as you approach some of these challenges together?
The reality is- we hope we continue to grow- hearing and space issues are wonderful, because it means that women and children are hungry for the word of God and everyone is literally trying to talk about Him at once!
So, let’s work together to magnify God and mature his people in our groups.
PRAY at the beginning of group WITH your group if your group is experiencing a challenge with your space.
PRAY on the phone with your group members who voice concerns of a specific struggle they are having. This models dependence on God.
REMIND your members to be respectful of other groups around them. This models compassion for others.
MOVE your chairs CLOSE together. This models the importance of community and being close, quite literally, as we open up God’s word together and learn more about Him.
These challenges are not a surprise to God. Every challenge you face as a leader is an opportunity to mature you and keep you dependent on Him.
If you are continuing to experience challenges-please do not need to carry those alone. Myself, Anna or Lea want to pray with you but also work with you in any way that we can.
