The Nature of Man (3.3)

God created mankind with two parts, body and soul.

God created mankind in His image; We reflect God with our bodies and our souls/spirits.

Matthew 10:28 ESV

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Put simply, the body is the physical part of man, and the soul is the nonphysical part of man.

1 Corinthians 5:5 (ESV)

...for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.

James 2:26 ESV

For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ.

The soul is the immaterial element of us that relates to God.

We become a new creation in Christ when we follow Christ.

The body and soul becomes brand new in Christ.
