The New King James Version Psalm 103
As a father pities his children,
So the LORD pities those who fear Him.
A earthly example of a father pitying his child:

After WW1 the USA gave a lot of money to help the orphans in Europe. But it was still not enough to meet the need.

A father who was sick and could not work, could not feed his daughter. So he walked into the orphanage holding his daughters hand. The little girl was skin and bones with evident signs of malnutrition. He approached the person in charge and said, “I would like for you to take in my little girl.” The person asked, “is this your daughter?” The man replied, “yes”.

The person in charge advised the man that they could not take her in because they only could afford to care for true orphans. If a parent is living we can not do anything, I’m so sorry.

The father looked down at his little girl and she looked up at her father with questioning eyes!

So you mean that if I were dead, you would take care of my little girl and feed her and she could live, have clothing and a home? THEY SAID, YES.

HE THEN REACHED DOWN AND PULLED HER SKINNY BODY UP TO HIMSELF AND HUGGED HER HARD AND KISSED HER. THEN HE PUT HER HAND IN THE HAND OF THE MAN AT THE DESK, AND SAID, “I’LL ARRANGE THAT” AND WALKED OUT OF THE ROOM AND COMMITTED SUICIDE!

*the father was to sick to work and stood in the way of his daughter’s getting food and clothing! He said i’ll take care of that AND he did. THAT’S MERCY-AS A FATHER PITIES HIS CHILDREN-SO THE LORD PITIES THEM THAT FEAR HIM.

*Jesus went out not to slay himself but to put himself where they could slay Him. MERCY was showing compassion in the only way it could at the moment, BY DYING. So Christ Jesus our Lord died there on the cross, for He loved us and pitied us as a father pities his children.

Our Response to God’s Mercy:
Our Response to God’s Mercy:
We who have recieved mercy MUST SHOW mercy.
We who have recieved mercy MUST SHOW mercy.
We must pray that God will help us show mercy!

* This mercy can only come by Atonement. Mercy can only operate toward us because of atonement. Atonement was made by Jesus Christ.

Let’s take a look at an old hymn written about the message contained in the book of Hebrews:
Where high in the heavenly temple stands, the house of God not made with hands, the great HIGH PRIEST our nature wears, the guardian of mankind appears.
Where high in the heavenly temple stands, the house of God not made with hands, the great HIGH PRIEST our nature wears, the guardian of mankind appears.
Though now ascended up on high He bends earth a brother’s eye. Partaker of the human name, He knows the frailty of our frame.

Our fellow sufferer now retains a fellow feeling of our pains, and still remembers in the skies HIS tears, HIS agonies, and cries.

In every pang that rends the heart The Man of Sorrows has a part. HE SYMPATHIZES WITH OUR GRIEF AND TO THE SUFFERER SENDS RELIEF.
With boldness therefore at the throne let us make all our sorrows known and ask the aid of heavenly power to help us in the evil hour.

THINK ON THIS!
THINK ON THIS!
OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST, WHO IS THE GUARDIAN OF MAN, WEARS OUR NATURE BEFORE THE THRONE OF GOD!
OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST, WHO IS THE GUARDIAN OF MAN, WEARS OUR NATURE BEFORE THE THRONE OF GOD!
What if God would give you permission to physically appear in heaven before HIS THRONE?
What if God would give you permission to physically appear in heaven before HIS THRONE?
What would you see AND RECOGNIZE? Let’s explore!
What would you see AND RECOGNIZE? Let’s explore!
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.
You would see strange angels like Abraham and Jacob, other creatures as described in Daniel and Revelation. You probably would not recognize them! BUT:
There would be one as you drew close to the throne you would recognize! LOOK, LOOK, LOOK, I RECOGNIZE THIS! I’M FAMILIAR WITH HIS SHAPE; THIS FORM I KNOW! THIS IS A MAN, THIS HAS TWO LEGS UNDER HIM, THIS HAS TWO ARMS, THIS IS A MAN!
THIS GREAT HIGH PREIST WEARS OUR NATURE! HE KNOWS EVERYTHING YOU FACE!
PLUNGE INTO HIS MERCY AND GET TO KNOW IT!
