Peace like a river

Today, we are moving on to our next fruit of the spirit! We have already learned about love and joy, but now we are going to learn about something called peace.

Can anyone here tell me what peace is?

Peace is a calm feeling you get when you are not afraid of things. You every say to peaople or hear them say “Peace out’? It means “go in peace” Be calm and dont worry.

I have a song to tell yall. if you know it, sing it loud

Now, who here can tell me what that means?

It means to have peace during difficult times in life!

Peace is to be calm, to be clear minded, even when we may be afraid!

Now, set each kid on a big sheet

Okay guys, this sheet is your enemy, it is the water, you are in the water. The waves are about to get high

have them all stand at first

then have them all sit

Danni and I will rock it back and forth, getting wilder and wilder,

One by one have a kid get off. The light er the load the tougher itll get.

As we do this we sing “I got peace like a river”

Now, did yall think that was fun or scary?

What if you were on an actual boat in the middle of nowhere during a huge storm? With giant waves coming over you! Would you be scared then?

Heres a story.

Mark 4:35-40 “That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?””

Now if you were there do you think you’d be afraid? But what did Jesus do and tell the disciples?

Told the storm to be quiet and asked them why they were afraid

So heres the thing, when we are scared and dont know how to get out, pray for peace! God can quiet whatever may scare you. So you can have peace because he is the ultimate peace giver! And if we are peaceable, we can be peaceful with others too!
