RECAP

Isaiah 6:1-7 “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne, and the hem of his robe filled the temple. Seraphim were standing above him; they each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. And one called to another: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Armies; his glory fills the whole earth. The foundations of the doorways shook at the sound of their voices, and the temple was filled with smoke. Then I said: Woe is me for I am ruined because I am a man of unclean lips and live among a people of unclean lips, and because my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Armies. Then one of the seraphim flew to me, and in his hand was a glowing coal that he had taken from the altar with tongs. He touched my mouth with it and said: Now that this has touched your lips, your iniquity is removed and your sin is atoned for.”
Isaiah 6:8-10 “Then I heard the voice of the Lord asking: Who will I send? Who will go for us? I said: Here I am. Send me. And he replied: Go! Say to these people: Keep listening, but do not understand; keep looking, but do not perceive. Make the minds of these people dull; deafen their ears and blind their eyes; otherwise they might see with their eyes and hear with their ears, understand with their minds, turn back, and be healed.”
God being Holy means He cannot sin.
God cannot sin. He cannot sin against you. He cannot make erroneous judgments. He cannot accidentally do something, or incidentally cause chaos. He is the essence of perfection, the unmitigated authority on order and strategy, and every decision, every act, is in harmony with His will and way.
In God there is no darkness. There is no evil. There is no misdeed or unrighteousness.
God is omniscient - He knows everything
God is omnipresent - He is everywhere and nothing can contain Him
God is all-powerful - there is no crisis too chaotic, no damage derailing, no devastation too devastating, that is too big or too small for our Holy God.
And in the midst of it all He is Just and every injustice will be made right.
God has extended His grace to you and me.
Whatever His truth is, what His reality is - what it is about you and your circumstance - His version is applied to you. That is GRACE - God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense
You can’t earn, but you get to own it.
If you can imagine how wide, how long, how high, and how deep is His love for you. That’s yours in Jesus’s Name. If you can imagine being rooted, settled, secure, anchored in His love for you. That’s yours in Jesus’s Name. If you can imagine the power of God invested in you to do good works for His glory. That’s yours in Jesus’s Name. If you can imagine being united with a people completely different than you but having the same common denominator of “Redeemed by Christ”. That’s yours in Jesus’s Name. If you can know this love that surpasses all knowledge, being full with even the fullness of God. That’s yours in Jesus’s Name. That is God’s grace applied to you, in Jesus’s Name.

GET OVER IT

Because of God’s grace - you have the tools to GET OVER IT!
Psalm 18:29 “With you I can attack a barricade, and with my God I can leap over a wall.”
Amplified Version: For by You I can run through a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.
This is the place we like to say we are with God - this is how we like to describe our faith in our King Jesus.
When we have the strength to fight a bear, or to slay a giant, or to live victoriously with the health, wealth, and vitality as a child of the King.
And we testify to that!
And we’re gonna hear some testimonies this Baptism Sunday - how my GOD enabled me, to run through a troop and leap over a wall.
We want our own faith to likened to a constant dopamine trip where we are always talking about a Hype-God, “The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not want” >>> WOOOO LET’S GO!!!!”
And if we’re honest - we desperately want this on the daily. We want this mentality - this straight dopamine-drip Christianity, of “butterfly in the sky, I can fly twice as high”.
But that’s not life!
David wrote this at a point in his life where God had to show up in an extremely mighty way.
David needed deliverance from the hand of Saul who was out for blood - David’s blood.
And David needed rescuing… And I’m sure at some point while he was running for his life, David’s testimony wasn’t “I can run through a troop, and I can leap over a wall”
It was probably more like yours and my prayers where we’re in the thick of trouble, running, desperate for air and the only prayer we pray is what David wrote in
Psalm 22:2 “My God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, by night, yet I have no rest.”
We wonder, WHY GOD?! GOD, AREN’T YOU THERE? WHY AREN’T YOU RESOLVING MY PROBLEMS?
That is until He shows up.
We keep referring to Isaiah’s experience with the HOLY GOD who showed up in a moment. A historical moment noted on a calendar even - the year King Uzziah died.
We all desperately need that HOLY MOMENT where God shows up.
We have storms in this life. Storms that wreck us, storms that push us off course, storms that completely dismantle any perspective of life we think is right.
And we wonder why GOD?! But by God, I got through it!
Whatever the storm was, by God, I got through it.
I’ve had fortune, I’ve had failure. I’ve had victories, I’ve had defeats. I’ve gained loved ones and I’ve had loved ones lost…but no matter the storm, He got me through it.
I don’t understand why. I don’t understand the point, the purpose, I certainly don’t see the bigger picture.. But by His Holiness, His plan is perfect!
And because He’s seen me through. Because He’s got me through the storm. Because He’s extended life to me in stench of my own death -
Whatever He requires of my life - for His glory - His plan is perfect because He is HOLY.
David didn’t have this motivation his whole life. God had to show up in David’s life. Matter of fact, David testifies to this before he ever says he can run through a troop or leap over a wall.
Psalm 18 actually starts this way:
Psalm 18:1-3 “I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock where I seek refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I was saved from my enemies.”
Talking about Instagram versus Reality - Here’s where real life was at the moment…
Psalm 18:4-6 “The ropes of death were wrapped around me; the torrents of destruction terrified me. The ropes of Sheol (the realm of death) entangled me; the snares of death confronted me. I called to the Lord in my distress, and I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.”
This is the message of those who have been extended mercy - those who have received His Grace:
Psalm 18:7-16 “…from his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears. Then the earth shook and quaked; the foundations of the mountains trembled; they shook because he burned with anger. Smoke rose from his nostrils, and consuming fire came from his mouth; coals were set ablaze by it. He bent the heavens and came down, total darkness beneath his feet. He rode on a cherub and flew, soaring on the wings of the wind. He made darkness his hiding place, dark storm clouds his canopy around him. From the radiance of his presence, his clouds swept onward with hail and blazing coals. The Lord thundered from heaven; the Most High made his voice heard. He shot his arrows and scattered them; he hurled lightning bolts and routed them. The depths of the sea became visible, the foundations of the world were exposed, at your rebuke, Lord, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils. He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he pulled me out of deep water.”
This is MY GOD! THIS IS MY HOLY GOD! The One who is proclaimed in all of heaven and earth: HOLY HOLY HOLY, is the Lord of Armies
Psalm 18:19 “He brought me out to a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.”
This is why David is so motivated to say just a few more verses down - with God, with my God, with my HOLY God, I can run through a troop, I can leap over a wall… Whatever the circumstance is, I can GET OVER IT.
Saint of God, you’ve got to get over it! You serve a HOLY God, who is great and mighty - there’s nothing that our God can’t do - and by God, there’s nothing you can’t get over or get through.
There is nothing that God can’t see you through, can’t send you through, can’t pull you through...
When you live for God, there will be multiple aspects of sacrifice and victory in your life, but by His Holiness, His plan will be accomplished.
I can choose to go along with it. Or I can choose pride, and choose my own way.
Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego weren’t delivered from the fire - they had to go through it.
Daniel wasn’t delivered from the lions’ den, he had to get dumped in it.
But you gotta know- whatever does not go along with His holiness, whatever is in conflict with His perfect will and purpose - it will be purged. IT MUST BE PURGED.
Romans 8:28 “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.”
But then we see here in Isaiah 6, that in the midst of God’s HOLINESS and His GLORY shown all about, where all unholiness is purged and consumed, Isaiah remained in God’s presence. See, you and I have remained. And by God’s mercies I remain - knowing that all of me could be consumed at any moment, by God, but by God, God has chosen me and I remain.
The seraphim came down and met Isaiah where he was. Isaiah recognized his unholiness in this moment, but the seraphim took the burning coals that were upon the altar and applied the coals of the altar to Isaiah’s lips.

THE ALTAR

What is the altar? The altar is the place where you make relationship while performing a sacrifice of worship to that which you bestow the worth of that sacrifice.
The altar is the place where you make your commitment to serving that which you value and prioritize.
Everyone has an altar. You and I have an altar. The altar is that place for which you place your sacrifice.
Everyone also has a sacrifice. You and I have a sacrifice we make nearly every day. Everyone is willing to place their sacrifice upon the altar for that which they serve.
For some, your sacrifice is your time. For others, its your money. For others, its your body. For others, its your energy. For others, its your relationships. For others, its your efforts. For others, its your words. For others, its your feelings.
And we all make these sacrifices for what we value - Again, we value what we prioritize and we prioritize what we value...
Some of us will sacrifice relationships for the preservation of our ego, our autonomy, our pride. Some will sacrifice their money for their idolatry - that which they idolize. Some will sacrifice their bodies for their fleshly desires, or for a certain image, or a specific lifestyle of choice. Some will even sacrifice their relationship with God for the purpose of wanting to preserve themselves.
But when it comes to the altar of the Lord, where the flame of His glory eternally burns continuously. It is where atonement happens. It is brought voluntarily by the owner of the burden. It is offered in righteousness. It is consumed entirely. And the only sacrifice acceptable is your life. And look what happens - Isaiah realizes he is doomed. He’s a dead man standing there before a Holy God. And the seraphim comes and consumes that which is unclean - that which is death - and God installs LIFE!
God doesn’t only give LIFE, He forgives. He restores. He gives Purpose. He gives Value. He gives Relationship. He gives Peace. He gives Hope. These things only a HOLY God can do!
He takes a man or woman dead to their unholiness, and pulls them aside, sets them apart, forgives what was, and creates someone NEW.

GOD DOESN’T LEAVE YOU THERE

AND STILL - GOD DOESN’T LEAVE YOU THERE! He puts a question in front of you. You, who were once unclean now made clean. You, who were once perceived worthless found to be worth JESUS Himself. You, who were lost having now been found. You, who were aimless now given a destiny.
He, the Holy God asks you: Who will I send? Who will go for us?
Isaiah compelled from the depths of his newly living soul said HERE I AM - SEND ME! The Hebrew translation for that phrase is saying directly - LOOK/BEHOLD - DEPLOY ME!
I was a degenerate, but now I’m regenerated. I was ashamed, but now I have freedom. I was unlovable, but You showed me You first loved me! I was stained and worthless, but LOOK/BEHOLD I’m white as snow!
You did this GOD! SEND ME LOOK, I’M WORTH DISPATCHING FOR YOU!
-Put me in Coach, I’m armored up and its shining for your glory!
LET ME SHOW OTHERS WHAT YOU DID FOR ME AND CAN DO FOR THEM ALSO.
Philippians 1:21 “For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
I can run through a troop and I can leap over wall!
God is seeking, He’s looking for those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. John 4:23 “But an hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth. Yes, the Father wants such people to worship him.”
Fear HIM, HE IS HIM. By God, you can GET OVER IT. Whatever it is in your life, GET OVER IT. Whatever the storm, whatever is holding you down, whatever so easily entangles you - by God, you can GET OVER IT, GET THROUGH IT.
He doesn’t want you to just get by with it or get stuck under it.
FEAR GOD and WATCH HIM Bend the heavens, hear Him thunder, watch the earth quake, because when it comes to looking after those who are His, there is nothing that can stop Him!
HOLY HOLY HOLY is the LORD of Armies! With the faithful, He proves Himself faithful With the pure, He proves Himself pure GOD - His ways are perfect, the Word of the LORD is PURE And He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
The LORD lives - Blessed be my rock! The God of my salvation is exalted. GOD - He grants me vengence and subdues peoples under me. He frees me from my enemies. Therefore I will give thanks to You among the nations, LORD, I WILL SING YOUR PRAISES about your Great Name! FOREVER AMEN!
