1700’s 70-80%
9% Gen Z (ages 9-24)
18% millennials Gen Y (ages 25-40)
27% Gen X ( Ages 43-58)
Boomers are 32% (ages 59-77)
Barna Group says the Gen Z is the first truly Post Christian generation. They are twice as likely to become atheist.
All’s it takes is one generation to lose the culture and Christian world view.
Just wait until this Generation starts to become leaders in our government and nation and this Generation turning out to vote. We are in for a ride.
They have been fed a steady diet of:
that man determines truth, atheistic Darwinism is the foundational origin and meaning of life.
They asked them why have you left the church and or left the faith?
How can you believe in a loving God who allows death and suffering in the world.
What about science, evolution, and millions of years.
Why is this the case? This has been going on since Adam and Eve:
Genesis 3:1 (ESV)
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”
The first attack was on the authority of God’s word. And that attack has not let up.
Genesis 3:5 (ESV)
5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
You decide truth for yourselves. You decide whats right and wrong. Whats exceptable and what isn’t. What our identity and gender is verse what God says our identity is.
Our sin nature is summarized in these verses. We know that Adam sinned and that nature has been passed down to us.
From these verses we can see our sin nature has the propensity to trust the word of man over the word of God.
This battle that happened roughly 6,000 years ago is between two foundations.
Man’s word
God’s word
If you start with man’s word then you end of a secular world view. Secular world views says that abortion is ok and maybe ok in certain circumstances. Secular world view says its ok to transition from a male to a female. Secular world view says that you determine whats right and wrong for you and others. Secular world view says Gay marriage is ok if they love and are devoted to one another. It says that euthanasia is alright if they don’t live anymore. That racism is ok.
These are symptoms of the same problem. Mans foundation.
When we educate our kids we need to bring them up with a Biblical world view. That’s dons’t just say believe in Jesus and you’ll be OK.
World view is your way of understanding the world. Its a way of thinking. When you start from God’s word you start a way of thinking that is a Christian World View.
Genesis is Our Foundation:
The foundation to our world view as a Christian comes from Genesis chapters 1 through 11.
The foundation of the Gospel is in Genesis. The foundation of what we believe where life comes from.
The foundation to marriage.
The foundation of our identity as men and woman.
Foundation to our Christian doctrine.
Foundation to Christian Marriage, the sanctity of life, to one race of people that origins are Adam and Eve.
You don’t start outside the Bible with mans interpretation of the world and try to fit it with the Bible.
Really the secular worldview is at odds against the Christian world view. They are starting to call us haters. They are intolerant of our world view.
So to deal with it? we need to address the foundations.
Well we need to proclaim the Gospel to this generation. Well this generation doesn’t have the foundation of Genesis anymore. So when you proclaim the Gospel you have to start in Genesis now.
Gospel is good news that Jesus saves the lost which we all were at one point. The problem is that most do not believe they are lost and have a sin problem.
Were do we address this issue? What happened in Genesis. The Book of Romans foundation is that Adam sinned and the 2nd Adam came to Redeem us from sin.
Well you might say all’s we need to do is proclaim the Gospel. Yes that true.
Acts 2 vs Acts 17:
Acts 2:22–23 (ESV)
22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know—
23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.
Acts 2:24 (ESV)
24 God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
Acts 2:37-38 (ESV)
37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
Who were they preaching to? Jews who already knew that there is one God who created the world. That death came into the world through sin. They knew the promise of the saviour to come. They had a biblical foundation.
Their stumbling block was that Jesus was Messiah.
23 but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness,
Billy Gram was speaking to preached mainly a Acts 2 culture. The western world used to be a Acts 2 culture.
The secular humanist and atheist understand the change of our culture.
This is a magazine that comes from them that states
“a historic transition is occurring, barely noticed. Slowly, quietly, religion is shriveling in America, as it already has in Europe, Canada, Australia… across the developed world. Increasingly, supernatural faith belongs to the third world. The first world is entering the long-predicted Secular Age, where science and knowledge dominate.”
We are headed down the world of were England is at. There church attendance is at 4%.
Now we are interning the Acts 17 Culture. This is the scene of Paul who addresses the greeks at Mars hill. This was a greek culture who had many God’s, Idols, and mixture of religions.
18 Some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also conversed with him. And some said, “What does this babbler wish to say?” Others said, “He seems to be a preacher of foreign divinities”—because he was preaching Jesus and the resurrection.
They thought it foolishness.
23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,
Greeks didn’t have the writings of Moses and the concept of one God creating the world, Adam and Eve, The fall of mankind, sin and death, the sacrificial system, and the promise of the Messiah.
They didn;t have the foundational knowledge to understand the Gospel. They were a Evolution based culture. Darwin didn’t invent evolution. He popularized a specific brand of evolution.
Jews = knew God - Sin - Death - and need of a savior
Greeks = which God - what sin - why death
If you believe in millions of years there is a problem with that.
The genealogy from Adam is about 6000 years of history.
Do you agree before sin entered the world there was no death. According the Genesis and the book of Romans.
Christians that believe the fossil record is millions of years has a problem.
You see in the fossil record shows that these animals in the fossil record also eat other animals.
So according to millions of years christian then this would have been before sin.
The records also show that they had cancers and other diseases such as infections, arthritis, ect.
Genesis 1:31 (ESV)
31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
Lets see how Paul addressed the Greeks.
24 God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.
25 Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things.
26 And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings,
There is only one race. We came from Adam. Because Adam sinned we inherited his blood and thus his sin.
30 “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent,
31 because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”
32 Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some began to sneer, but others said, “We shall hear you again concerning this.”
33 So Paul went out of their midst.
34 But some men joined him and believed, among whom also were Dionysius the Areopagite and a woman named Damaris and others with them.
