I. Adam and Eve and the need for God’s mercy and love.
II. Read Psalm 24:7-10 and comment. Psalm 24:7-10 points us to the LORD who is like a king coming to help us: “Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle! Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory!”
III. God’s One and Only Son comes in three ways.
IV. Our unbelieving world seems to be getting more and more evil.
V. That is why Jesus came to our world as the Son of God and son of Mary and 2 Corinthians 5:19-21. He came to redeem us from our sinful ways. 2 Corinthians 5:19-21 tells us, “In Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
VI. LWML and mission grants. This LWML Saturday/Sunday we are reminded of what Jesus has done to save us and we want to tell others about the saving work of Jesus, too. The LWML has raised millions of dollars in last 80 years to tell people the good news of Jesus. I would like to highlight two mission grants that the LWML in the western part of Iowa and in our nation are funding. One mission grant for $20,000 for Crossroads of Crawford County in Denison, Iowa, will provide services that embrace life, provide pregnancy & parenting resources, Christian family resources, and “CoCares” non-medical assistance to the elderly & caregivers. Another mission grant for $100,000 will be for bringing God’s Word to India through the India Bible Translation Project. 11 LWML mission grants are funded through the Iowa West District of societies and 31 LWML mission grants are funded through the national LWML organization. The women in mission of the LWML continue to fund missions in Iowa and around the world, so that more people will learn about the mercy and compassion of Jesus.
VII. The Law shows sin and the Gospel gives hope and Romans 1:16–17 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
VIII. The girl during a storm and parents and need for someone with skin on.
IX. Jesus is our God with skin on and LWML mission.
