You can enter into salvation through faith in Christ or you can, in unbelief, remain outside of Christ.

It is possible to miss out on God’s blessing because we hear without believing, we hear without obeying – “good news came … to them; but the message they heard did not benefit them, because it did not meet with faith in the hearers … those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience” (3,6).

‘Today, when you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts’ (7).

These are words that we need to keep on hearing – again and again. None of us ever reaches a stage where we no longer need to hear and heed God’s words of warning. Make sure that you don’t miss the point!

You are in ‘the valley of decision’ (Joel 3:14).

God speaks His Word to us. He calls us to obedience. He says to us, ‘Obey My voice’. Sadly, however, the story of our life is often summed up in the words: ‘They did not listen or pay attention. They did not obey’ (Jeremiah 11:7-8).

God’s Word is not just ‘something to think about. When God calls us to obedience, we’re not to say, ‘I’ll think about that later.’ ‘Now’ is the time for obedience to God’s Word: ‘Obey now the voice of the Lord’ (Jeremiah 38:20).

We must not put this off until tomorrow. God is looking for our obedience today: ‘Today, when you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts’ (Hebrews 4:7). There is still time – to open your heart to Christ, to trust Him as your Saviour, to become a new creation in Him. Make your decision for Christ, and make it real!

Here is a prayer you can pray: ‘Restore us, O God; let Thy face shine, that we may be saved!’ (Psalm 80:3,7,19).
