David and Solomon were anointing with a Horn while Saul and Jehu were anointed with a Flask. David and Solomon had a lasting anointing, Saul and Jehu only a temporary anointing. To have a lasting anointing, you must not rely on manmade vessels. Inferior Anointing produces temporary results.

The Horn of the Anointed

1 Samuel 2:9–10 (ESV)
9 “He will guard the feet of his faithful ones, but the wicked shall be cut off in darkness, for not by might shall a man prevail. 10 The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; against them he will thunder in heaven. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth; he will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed.”
This passage, of course, comes from Hannah’s prayer when she dedicated her son Samuel to the Lord.
As you know, Hannah was the second of two wives to Elkanah. She was barren and ridiculed by Peninnah, the first wife.
Hannah was praying in desperation for God to bless her with a son. She promised the Lord that if she did conceive she would give the child to the Lord and that no razor would touch his Head.
Her prayer was so desperate that Eli assumed she was drunk.
Are you willing to pray so desperately that you appear drunk?
Hannah appeared drunk in prayer, then a mighty move of God came through the answer of that prayer. The 120 appeared drunk when the holy Spirit came upon them followed by a mighty move of God.

Lectures on Revivals of Religion Lecture VII: Be Filled with the Spirit

You will be called eccentric; and probably you will deserve it. Probably you will really be eccentric. I never knew a person who was filled with the Spirit, that was not called eccentric. And the reason is, that they are unlike other people. This is always a term of comparison. There is therefore the best of reasons why such persons should appear eccentric. They act under different influences, take different views, are moved by different motives, led by a different spirit.

These are not drunk as you suppose. You will be different than other people when you move in the Spirit and under the Anointing.
To transform this generation, don’t be ashamed of His Presence no matter how peculiar it looks!

It’s Open War on Christianity

All around us today we see “adversaries of the Lord” attack the purposes of God. Yet, God’s Word is clear that such forces will not prevail against the Church.
The world hates you because it hates Jesus.
John 15:18 ESV
18 “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.
Matthew 24:9–14 (ESV)
9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. 12 And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Attacks against Christianity:

What have totalitarian regimes always eradicated first? Faith.
Biden is waging a surreptitious war on our Christian faith, and I'm concerned people aren't seeing it coming.
Bibles are ripped out of kids' hands at school. Pastors are threatened with arrest for praying. Realtors have been banned from saying, "Jesus loves you." A judge banned public prayer. Churches are prohibited from using their own property for worship.
We've been the tip of the spear in these fights, and we've been winning. But all of this is just the tip of the iceberg.
The onslaught continues: Biden's FBI is placing spies in churches and targeting Christians as "terrorists." Now the Deep State FBI just admitted to the judge in our lawsuit to having over 1,200 pages of documents regarding its targeting of Christians and pro-lifers.
We can win. We just defeated a ban on Bible studies at a senior living center.
But I've never seen anything like what we're facing today – battling a Mount Everest of attacks on faith in court. It will require each and every one of you taking a bold stand to defend our faith.

Lawsuit: Massachusetts refuses to allow couple to foster or adopt children because of their Christian faith
A Christian conservative couple in Massachusetts has been denied the ability to adopt or foster children because of the perception by state officials that "their faith is not supportive and neither are they" of the gender and sexuality of hypothetical "LGBTQIA+ youth."
Cognizant that the "discriminatory" standard applied to them would ultimately mean a prohibition on all families like theirs of various faiths, Catholics Mitty and Catherine "Kitty" Burke have taken the commonwealth to court with the help of the religious liberty group Becket.

Psalm 92:9–11 (ESV)
9 For behold, your enemies, O Lord, for behold, your enemies shall perish; all evildoers shall be scattered. 10 But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; you have poured over me fresh oil. 11 My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants.
Jesus has Anointed us with His precious oil to be equipped with power for His purpose in these last days.
The Lexham Bible Dictionary (The Horn and Anointing in Biblical Poetry)
The word “horn” is used in Hebrew poetry as a symbol of strength or pride, often in the context of anointed kings. At several points, the psalmists refer to their “horn being exalted” or “horn being lifted up” when expressing appreciation for God’s support
When we receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, God pours out His precious Anointing upon us to minister with Spiritual, “Kingly” authority in a society that has risen up against Him.
Our purpose is to combat and pull down demonic strongholds and principalities that are the driving force behind the rage in our generation.
We must be filled with His Spirit and we must be filled with His Word to be effective today.
God for pulling down strongholds. Faith in the living God, prayer, and obedience to the word of God are the effective weapons of every true soldier of Jesus Christ. It is by these that strongholds are razed.
William MacDonald (Christian author)
Ephesians 6:10–12 ESV
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
J.C. Ryle, May 10, 1816 to June 10, 1900 was a writer, pastor, evangelical preacher and the first Anglican bishop of Liverpool. He was known for supporting evangelicalism and criticizing ritualism.
We must wrestle earnestly in prayer, like men contending with a deadly enemy for life.

Psalm 92:10 NKJV
10 But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil.
Fresh Anointing comes to those Anointed with Fresh Oil.

Hannah’s Prayer Points to King David

Psalm 89:20–24 ESV
20 I have found David, my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him, 21 so that my hand shall be established with him; my arm also shall strengthen him. 22 The enemy shall not outwit him; the wicked shall not humble him. 23 I will crush his foes before him and strike down those who hate him. 24 My faithfulness and my steadfast love shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted.

Hannah’s Prayer Points to Jesus

Spirit Filled Life Study Bible (Chapter 2)
Here is the first mention of the Messiah (Hebrew for “Anointed One”) in conjunction with the idea of a king.
Jesus, the Anointed One, is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Since we are in Christ and He has poured out His Spirit upon us, we can claim that same anointing.

The Anointing of the Lord or the Arm of Flesh

Our passion is to be a people that freely flows in the authentic power of God. This is only possible if we spend time in His presence and in His Word.

The Anointing is God’s seal upon us

Ephesians 1:13 ESV
13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,
Paul says in Galatians 6 that he bear’s in his body the marks of Jesus. This mentions his scars from persecution are the marks the stigmata of God’s ownership.
You may not have scars, but He has put His mark of ownership on you. The power of the Holy Spirit is His mark upon you. God has branded you with His Anointing!
The Lexham Bible Dictionary Overview of Anointing in the Bible

Robert Bergen proposes that anointing in the Bible signifies that God was “staking a claim” on the anointed and/or that God was pouring out His Spirit upon the anointed (Bergen, 1–2 Samuel, 126–27).

To move in God's Anointing is to understand that God has set His seal on you. You have been claimed by God.
You were sealed because He lifted up a horn and poured His anointing over you.

The Arm of the Flesh

As we must not trust to an arm of flesh when it is engaged for us, so we must not be afraid of an arm of flesh when it is stretched out against us.
Matthew Henry
With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God to help us, and to fight our battles.
Charles Spurgeon
I was born of the flesh in 1837. I was born of the Spirit in 1856. That which is born of the flesh may die. That which is born of the Spirit will live forever.
Dwight L. Moody
All of us struggle with the Arm of the Flesh. There is a constant conflict between moving in the Anointing and relying upon the Flesh.
Signs You Are Relying on the Flesh:
Self-Serving in Ministry
Appealing to the Fleshly in Others

Don’t blame the anointing for the imperfection of the vessel.
Rodney Howard-Browne
The anointing is not some mystical something out there. The anointing is the presence and power of God manifested.
Rodney Howard-Browne

The Exalted Horn or the Flask of Failure

King Saul and King Jehu are the only kings anointed with a “flask” rather than “horn” of oil.
Both Saul and Jehu were Anointed with a flask and both were eventually rejected by God.
Inferior Anointing produced Temporary results.
Our strength comes from the Lord as He exalts our horn. A flask is man made while a horn is created by God. Hannah's prophetic song points to the use of a horn.
The anointing of the Holy Spirit is unlimited. It is we that set the limits.
Benny Hinn

It’s a New Day of Fresh Anointing

Philippians 3:12–14 ESV
12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
“Because He has made me His own” His seal of anointing upon us. We must not rely upon our own power.
Having your horn exalted is about having a Fresh Anointing.
The past has not exhausted the possibilities nor the demands for doing great things for God. The church that is dependent on its past history for its miracles of power and grace is a fallen church.
Edward McKendree Bounds
If men would pray as they ought to pray, the marvels of the past would be more than reproduced.
