Who Deserves God’s Grace

1 Corinthians 15:10 (NIV)
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.

As we get started talking about Gods Grace. Let us not forget what Thomas Brooks told us

As heat is opposed to cold, and light to darkness, so grace is opposed to sin. Fire and water may as well agree in the same vessel as grace and sin in the same heart.

Thomas Brooks

James 4:6 NIV
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

You see God blesses those who are humble

Matthew 5:3

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:4

4 Blessed are those who mourn,

for they will be comforted.

Matthew 5:5

5 Blessed are the meek,

for they will inherit the earth.

Matthew 5:6

6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

for they will be filled.

Where do you fit in this scripture? Are we poor in spirit and trying to grow in the spirit?

or are we just claiming to follow Jesus and putting the things of our earthly desires first?

If we are poor in spirit and seeking the spirit then the kingdom of heaven will be yours.

when we morn Jesus tells us we will be comforted. if we are meek and not boastful we will inherit the earth. and believe if we hunger and thirst for righteousness we will be filled. How often do we meet people who seem to have everything but when the truth is known they lack the most filling and rewarding thing onr could have that would be the grace of Jesus Christ.

our life can be affected in so many different ways especially in our heart. is it not hard to believe that in a heart God gave us we can harbor sin as well as grace?

In our scripture we are reminded Moses shared God’s law with us. Although it gives guidance as to where we need to turn for grace and truth.

w are privileged to know when we turn to Jesus we will always receive the truth. Through truth is the only way to receive Grace.

According to Charles Spurgeon

The Lord may not give gold, but he will give grace; he may not give gain, but he will give grace.

Charles Spurgeon

You see Jesus will always give us grace if we are truly sorry for our sins. When it comes to material things God only gives us what we need.

Many times we misinterpret the scripture

Luke 11:9–10 NIV
“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

This scripture is used to many times to tell someone just ask and God will provide. We forget that how this scripture is intended. It is ment for us to ask for ways to further Gods kingdom not our own selfish desires. This intent is to ask and you shale find, it is referring to what God wants us to do to glorify his kingdom. Not pad our own pockets or our own desires.

Jesus was sent here to teach us to further Gods kingdom and to do all things in his name and to honor him. Not for us to boast and promote our selves we are to give him all the glory and praise in all we do.

After what happened in the garden of Eden God sent his only son to save us from our selves. Which without him we would end up following the devil.

When we follow our own path we are not capable of staying on Gods Path for us. We can only do this with his help. Remember in the gospel it tells us

John 15:5 NIV
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

You see we tend to select individual scriptures to fit where we want them in our lives. We as humans have the ability to use things to our advantage, to justify what we want to do.

I know we have covered these topics before but I feel after the last few weeks this needed to be said. Too many times we don’t read scripture and take it from the text it was intended. Often we find it a lot easier to believe it in our intention and not in how Jesus intended it. Jesus gave us the rules from Moses, we are to follow them with out question, and with out doubt. when we study the scripture we find ourselves not listening for Gods voice in our study. We even go to the point of making it a competition on who reads the most. But if we don’t take time for the word to consume us are we gaining anything?

God has laid it on my heart to bring this up. please study the word of God it is our road map for life. our rule book and guide for a child of God. when our time is over on this earth God will not ask your boss, the coach or even your pastor if you are worthy of entering the pearly gates. It will be decided by him and only him.I pray we all hear him say

Well done my son well done.

You have earned my Grace for all you have asked for and your work on earth is done.

Welcome Home.

AMEN
