THIS MORNING WE WILL BE LOOKING AT THIS PASSAGE FROM 1 JOHN 2:1-5
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;
and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.
The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;
but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him:
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN CONSIDERED OR CHOSEN FOR SOMETHING THAT YOU JUST DID NOT FEEL YOU WERE WORTHY OF?
I THINK FOR ME THAT ANSWER WOULD BE YES MANY TIMES OVER. I KNOW WHEN I STARTED MY CAREER IN THE ARMY MY ONLY DREAM WAS TO BECOME A 1SG IN AN AIRBORNE INFANTRY UNIT. I NEVER GOT TO FULFILL THAT PORTION OF MY ASPIRATIONS. I SPENT MY ENTIRE CAREER AS A 1SG OUT IN HAWAII. MY FIRST COMPANY WAS CHARLIE CO 2-27 INFANTRY, AND THE IT WOULD BE DELTA CO 2-27, AND THEN I WOULD FINISH MY 1SG TIME AS THE HHC 25TH ID FIRST SERGEANT. MY FIRST COMPANY WAS 128 MEN, MY SECOND COMPANY WAS 107 MEN BUT WE HAD ABOUT 65% OF THE BATTALION FIRE POWER IN THAT SINGLE COMPANY. THEN MY FINAL COMPANY I HAD OVER 550 PEOPLE FROM THE 2 STAR GENERAL AND THE DIVISION CSM DOWN TO THE YOUNGEST PRIVATE IN THE DIVISION IN MY COMPANY. I WAS OUT RANKED BY ABOUT 1/3 OF MY COMPANY AND ITS OFFICERS BUT STILL I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEM AND THEIR SOLDIERS. THE DIVISION CSM JERRY
