it is God’s power

it is the very power of God

Or are you unaware of his rich kindness, forbearance, and patience, that it is God’s kindness that is leading you to repent?

Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?

The Power of God. -- It is through the gospel that the power of God is channeled into the mind of those who hear the message. The force of the facts of the gospel (the life, death, and resurrection of Christ) changes unbelief into faith. The force of the motives of the gospel (the goodness of God Rom. 2:4, godly sorrow for sin, 2 Cor. 7:10,
10 For having sorrow in a godly way results in repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regrets. But the sorrow of the world produces death.11 International Standard Version (Yorba Linda, CA: ISV Foundation, 2011), 2 Co 7:10.
And, among others, the consideration of the impending judgment, Acts 17:30-31) changes the will, and that change of the will is repentance.
30 Though God has overlooked those times of ignorance, he now commands everyone everywhere to repent, 31 because he has set a day when he is going to judge the world with justice through a man whom he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”11 International Standard Version (Yorba Linda, CA: ISV Foundation, 2011), Ac 17:30–31.
30 “God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. 31 For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.” 11 Tyndale House Publishers, Holy Bible: New Living Translation (Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, 2015), Ac 17:30–31.
Submission to the command of the gospel to be baptized into Christ brings the penitent believer to the blood of Christ which washes away sin (Mk. 16:15-16;
15 Then he told them, “As you go into all the world, proclaim the gospel to everyone. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever doesn’t believe will be condemned.11 International Standard Version (Yorba Linda, CA: ISV Foundation, 2011), Mk 16:15–16.
15 And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. 16 Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. 11 Tyndale House Publishers, Holy Bible: New Living Translation (Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, 2015), Mk 16:15–16.
Rom 6:4;
Therefore, through baptism we were buried with him into his death so that, just as the Messiah was raised from the dead by the Father’s glory, we too may live an entirely new life.11 International Standard Version (Yorba Linda, CA: ISV Foundation, 2011), Ro 6:4.
For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. 11 Tyndale House Publishers, Holy Bible: New Living Translation (Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, 2015), Ro 6:4.
Acts 22:16;
16 What are you waiting for now? Get up, be baptized, and have your sins washed away as you call on his name.’11 International Standard Version (Yorba Linda, CA: ISV Foundation, 2011), Ac 22:16.
16 What are you waiting for? Get up and be baptized. Have your sins washed away by calling on the name of the Lord.’ 11 Tyndale House Publishers, Holy Bible: New Living Translation (Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, 2015), Ac 22:16.
Heb 9:14;
14 how much more will the blood of the Messiah, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from dead actions so that we may serve the living God!11 International Standard Version (Yorba Linda, CA: ISV Foundation, 2011), Heb 9:14.
14 Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. 11 Tyndale House Publishers, Holy Bible: New Living Translation (Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, 2015), Heb 9:14.
Heb 10:22).
22 let us continue to come near with sincere hearts in the full assurance that faith provides, because our hearts have been sprinkled clean from a guilty conscience, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.11 International Standard Version (Yorba Linda, CA: ISV Foundation, 2011), Heb 10:22.
22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. 11 Tyndale House Publishers, Holy Bible: New Living Translation (Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, 2015), Heb 10:22.
This power of God to save the believer was demonstrated in the resurrection of Christ (Eph. 1:19-20).
19 and the unlimited greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his mighty strength, 20 which he brought about in the Messiah when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realm. 11 International Standard Version (Yorba Linda, CA: ISV Foundation, 2011), Eph 1:19–20.
19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. 11 Tyndale House Publishers, Holy Bible: New Living Translation (Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, 2015), Eph 1:19–20.
It is the same power that raises the one dead in trespasses and sin to the new life in Christ (Eph. 2:4-6).
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love for us even when we were dead because of our offenses, made us alive together with the Messiah (by grace you have been saved), raised us up with him, and seated us with him in the heavenly realm in the Messiah Jesus,11 International Standard Version (Yorba Linda, CA: ISV Foundation, 2011), Eph 2:4–6.
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. 11 Tyndale House Publishers, Holy Bible: New Living Translation (Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, 2015), Eph 2:4–6.
It is “the power that worketh in us” (Eph. 3:20),
20 Now to the one who can do infinitely more than all we can ask or imagine according to the power that is working among us—11 International Standard Version (Yorba Linda, CA: ISV Foundation, 2011), Eph 3:20.
20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.11 Tyndale House Publishers, Holy Bible: New Living Translation (Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, 2015), Eph 3:20.
that “quench all the fiery darts of the evil one” (Eph 6:16).
16 In addition to having clothed yourselves with these things, having taken up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to put out all the flaming arrows of the evil one,11 International Standard Version (Yorba Linda, CA: ISV Foundation, 2011), Eph 6:16.
16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.11 Tyndale House Publishers, Holy Bible: New Living Translation (Carol Stream, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, 2015), Eph 6:16.
