When I was 7 or 8 I got bit by a spider.
We knew I got bit by a spider, not because we saw it happen, not because we found the spider.
We knew I got bit by a spider because after my leg swelled up and turned red, the doctor told us it was a spider bite.
My body did exactly what it was supposed to do.
It identified that there was a problem, started trying to fix it, and sent signals to indicate that something was wrong.
I took antibiotics and soon the problem was resolved.
Imagine with me, if my body had not responded how it was supposed to.
This bite could have gotten worse and worse and, in the worst case scenario, it could have killed me.
When our bodies are sending bad signals, or no signal at all, it is a massive indication that something is wrong.
The Bible tells us that every believer is part of the body of Christ.
This means that we are connected to one another.
Listen to what Paul says in
25 Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another.
Paul’s reason for having us tell the truth is that we are members of one another.
Just like with the physical body, if the body of Christ is lying to itself, it is an indication that something is majorly wrong.
When we lie to one another in the body of Christ, we harm the body of Christ and ultimately, we harm ourselves.
Lying damages our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Lying should have no place in our lives.
