Three misunderstandings that get in our way of properly embracing the gospel:

We expect Jesus to primarily meet our physical needs

“You had your fill of the loaves”

We expect Jesus to meet our expectations of his person and work

“What sign will you show us?”

We are unwilling to believe the hard things that Jesus says

“This is a hard saying, who can listen to it?”
