KNOWING GOD’S VOICE

INTRODUCTION:
THE VOICE OF GOD IS NOT REVEALED TO EVERYONE AND THE REASON IS WE ARE DISCONNECTED FROM HIM OR WE ARE NOT INTIMATE ENOUGH TO BE CLOSE TO HIM.
GOD WILL NEVER SPEAK TO US WHERE THERE IS CONFUSION.
GOD WAS SPEAKING TO SAMUEL AND SAMUEL DID NOT KNOW THE VOICE OF GOD.
I LIKE TO TALK ABOUT 3 THINGS TODAY.
WHY SAMUEL DID NOT KNOW THE LORD’S VOICE?
HOW WAS SAMUEL ABLE TO HEAR THE LORD’S VOICE?
WHAT PURPOSE THE LORD USED SAMUEL FOR?
A. WHY SAMUEL DID NOT KNOW THE LORD’S VOICE?
1 SAMUEL 3:7 “Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, neither was the word of the Lord yet revealed unto him.”
SAMUEL DID NOT KNOW THE LORD’S VOICE, BECAUSE HE HAD NOT ESTABLISHED A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD CHRIST JESUS.
THE LORD’S VOICE IS IN HIS WORD AND IF THE WORD OF GOD IS NOT ABIDING IN YOU, WHAT YOU WOULD HEAR WOULD BE FOOLISH TO YOU.
IN ORDER FOR YOU TO KNOW THE LORD’S VOICE, YOUR SPIRIT HAS TO BE QUICKEN BY HIS SPIRIT, SO YOUR HEART WILL BE OPEN TO HEAR HIM WHEN HE SPEAK.
YOU NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD TO INTERPRET THE LORD’S VOICE.
1 CORINTHIANS 3:1-2 “And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.”
2. HOW WAS SAMUEL ABLE TO HEAR THE LORD’S VOICE.
1 SAMUEL 3:9-10 “Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. And the Lord came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.”
THE WAY SAMUEL WAS ABLE TO HEAR GOD’S VOICE, BY TAKING INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE MAN OF GOD.
MANY PEOPLE COME TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY AND WHEN THE MAN OF GOD DEPOSIT THE WORD OF GOD INTO THERE LIVES, THEY LET IT FALL BY THE WAYSIDE.
THE LORD SPEAK THROUGH HIS WORD.
WHEN SAMUEL HEARD THE VOICE OF THE LORD THIS TIME, HE SAID SPEAK LORD.
WHEN YOU DON’T HAVE EVERYBODY IN YOUR EAR YOU CAN HEAR THE LORD CLEARLY.
HOW MANY OF US WHEN GOD SPEAK TO US, WE IMMEDIATELY SAY SPEAK LORD AND ALLOW HIM TO SPEAK WITHOUT INTERRUPTING HIM.
SAMUEL WAS READY TO SERVE THE LORD AT ANY CAPACITY THE LORD NEEDED HIM FOR.
JAMES 1:19 “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:”
C. WHAT PURPOSE THE LORD USED SAMUEL FOR?
TO DELIVER HIS MESSAGE TO THE HOUSE OF ELI. SAMUEL ASSIGNMENT WAS TO COMMUNICATE GOD’S WILL TO THE HOUS OF ELI. SAMUEL WAS A PROPHET OF THE LORD, HIS MINISTRY WAS TO ENCORAGE THE PEOPLE TO BE FAITHFUL TO GOD. HIS ASSIGNMENT IS TO CALL PEOPLE TO REPENTANCE.
THAT’S WHY WHEN THE MAN OF GOD SPEAKS FROM A PROPHET MANTLE YOU SHOULD TAKE HEED TO THE WARNINGS.
WHEN YOU NEGLECT TO HEED THE VOICE OF GOD AND CONTINUE TO DO WHAT’S NOT PLEASING IN HIS SIGHT, YOU WILL BE LIKE THE SONS OF ELI WHO PAY THE CONSEQUENCE FOR THERE DISOBEDIENCE.
WHEN GOD STOPS BLINKING ON THE SINS OF OUR LIVES, HIS GRACE IS NO LONGER SUFFICIENT FOR US AND HIS COVERING IS STRIP FROM US.
NUMBERS 12:6 “And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.”
