The Power over the devil
Ephesians 6:10-18
It is a sad thing when believers don’t know the provisions that God has made for victory over satan.
Christ has completely overcome satan and his hosts.
Victory is ours by faith.
satan is a strong enemy so Paul exhorts us to be strong.
Paul knows that the flesh is weak and we can overcome only in Christ’s power.
Note that Paul tells us to stand against the wiles of the devil and stay strong (Ephesians 6:11).
How do we receive this strength to stand?
By realizing that we are seated with Christ in the heavenlies, far above all of satan’s principalities and powers, and that the very power of God is available to us through the indwelling Spirit.
We must understand our spiritual position before we can have spiritual power.
That’s why it’s so important to know the Word of God.
How foolish to fight flesh and blood when the real enemy is merely using that flesh and blood to obstruct the Lord’s work. Stop fighting and start praying.
Jesus has given us power and authority to fight the devil.
Sooner or later every believer discovers that the Christian life is a battleground, not a playground and that he faces the enemy who is much stronger than he is apart from God.
Paul uses a military illustration in the believer’s conflict with satan.
The Spirit of God enables us, by faith, to appropriate Christ’s victory for ourselves.
Unless we know who the enemy is, where he is, and what he can do, we will have a difficult time defeating him.
There are a lot of brothers and sisters getting duked by the devil for we are too busy.
A spiritual battle is going on in this world and the sphere of the heavenlies and believers are a part of the battle, whether they choose to walk in defeat or victory.
We are wasting time fighting people when we ought to be fighting the devil who seeks to control people and make them opposed to the work of God.
satan is a strong enemy and we need the power of God to be able to stand against him.
Never underestimate the power of the devil.
He is not compared to a lion or a dragon for fun.
Not only is satan strong, but he is also wise and subtle, and we fight against the wiles of the devil.
Wiles means cunning crafty arts.
The Christian cannot afford to be ignorant of his devices.
Paul uses the word “wrestle” which indicates we are involved in hand-to-hand battle and are not mere spectators at a game.
We’re not playing twinkle-toes.
You will never be successful at whooping the devil unless you know how to use the Word of God.
God never tells you to back up.
We need not look at the church but at the Word of God.
It’s about time the church comes alive.
Now let us get into God’s equipment.
Are you ready to rise in victory?
