Made alive with Jesus (Ephesians 2:1-10) 2. Joined to God’s family (Eph. 2:13-22, Heb 12:22-24) 3. Joined to a community of Christians (Acts 20:17, Ephesians 1:1, Revelation 1:11) Why? Why does our church gather? God gathers us together . . . (Election) “. . . the Father is seeking such people to worship him.” (John 4:23 ESV) “As it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”” (Romans 3:10-12 ESV) Why? Why does our church gather? God gathers us together (Election) for the praise of His glory . . . (Exaltation) God’s glory is the inf inite beauty and greatness of his manifold perfections - John Piper “He predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. Spiritual gifts: Speaking & Serving “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies. . .” (1 Peter 4:10-11 ESV) Why? Why does our church gather? God gathers us together for the praise of His glory for our personal joy in Him and the mutual good of His people (Election) (Exaltation) (Enjoyment) (Edif ication) 1. Spiritual gifts: Speaking & Serving “For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you—that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.” (Romans 1:11-12 ESV) Why?
